We might have seen rom-com anime series that portray the story of a popular boy and a beautiful girl as they deal with the complexities that come up with modern relationships. But would you like to watch an anime that focuses on female characters who deeply care for each other, and have unexpressed emotions for each other?
That’s exactly the storyline of Hitomi Iruma’s television anime, Adachi to Shimamura, who are first-year high schoolers. As it is said that opposites attract, and this is just the case with our main characters. While Adachi lacks social skills, Shimamura has a talent for caring for people. The two get a chance to know each other at their school gym while they bunk classes. Sadly, Adachi has an issue confessing her feelings to Shimamura, who thinks that they are just friends. So, what happens to this adorable pair next after we saw their romance blossoming in season two. Sadly, we don’t have a sequel to the anime to know the answer. However, based on the information available about the anime at this point, here’s everything you must know about season two of Adachi to Shimamura.
Is the Yuri anime series, Adachi and Shimamura returning for another outing?
It is very unlikely that a yuri anime receives a second season. However, considering the show’s ratings and reception, we assume that it may be an exception. But there is no official word on whether there will be more to Adachi and Shimamura’s love story.
Season one made its debut in October 2020 and ended with its 12th episode in December 2020. That said, showrunners typically take some time to bring back any anime. Thus, if a season two gets greenlit this year, fans should not be lucky to watch it until 2023 (because at least this much time the anime series will take to return).
We are not sure yet about how many episodes season two will include. But it is safe to assume that it will be a 12-episode season similar to its initial run.
Adachi and Shimamura Season two’s possible plotline
Usually, anime tv series is based on light novel series or a manga adaptions. Adachi and Shimamura is a television adaptation of Hitoma Iruma’s 2012 novel collection. Season one focuses on the events of the first three volumes of the series. Moreover, there are at least 6 more volumes left to be adapted into an anime. That considered, there is plenty of material to be covered in season two (and even a couple more installments). Since its first installment had more questions than answers, we expect its future batch of episodes to have solid answers. At the series end, fans saw Shimamura’s care towards Adachi, but their relationship ended even before starting. Thus, it is obvious that viewers are keen to get a season two.
Adachi and Shimamura’ Season two’s cast details
Adachi and Shimamura take the center stage in the anime series. And the plotline cannot move ahead without them ( except that there is a whole new story to tell). Sakura Adachi’s character is voiced by Akari Kito while Miko Ito is the voice actor for Shimamura. In addition to them, the anime series also includes several other characters like Akira Hino played by Manami Numaku, Taeko Nagafuji voiced by Reina Ueda, and Yashiro Chikama played by Iori Saeki, and Tarumi ( Ai Kayano).
We expect the original voice acst to reprise their roles in a potential season two as well as there is no reason why creators will bring a new cast to continue telling a story that has been loved by fans globally.
Keiichirou Oochi acts as the anime series’ creator. Tezuka Productions is the animation house behind it.
Season one of Adachi and Shimamura is available for viewing on Crunchyroll following Sony’s acquisition of the streaming service. If you have watched this yuri genre anime yet, you can do it now.
