Developed by Eric Heisserer, Shadow, and Bone is an American fantasy mystery drama streaming TV series developed for Netflix. The series is inspired by two sequels of books which are “Grishaverse” by Leigh Bardugo, the “Shadow and Bone trilogy, and the Six of Crows” duology. The first eight episodes of the series debuted in April 2021 followed by the second season also consisting of eight episodes was released in March 2023 nearly two years after the first season came out. So it looks like fans need to be patient until the third season arrives on the screens.
Shadow and Bone Season 3 Release Date
Netflix has officially canceled Shadow and Bone, despite creator Eric Heisserer having previously told Collider that he has always had a “three-season plan” for the series.
In a prior interview with Collider, Jessie Mei Li discussed the cast’s excitement for a second season of the Shadow and Bone plot and even mentioned that there are “definitely plans in the works”.
“I would love to go back and finish that story to see what happens to Alina,” the woman continued. I feel that it would be a great shame to conclude the story there because they left it in such an interesting spot.”
The Cast of Shadow and Bone Season 3
In season 3 of Shadow and Bone, we expect most of the main characters to return which includes–
- Jessie Mei Li in the role of Alina Starkov
- Freddy Carter will be back as Kaz Brekker
- Amita Suman in the character of Inej Ghafa
- Kit Young will play Jesper Fahey
- Archie Renaux will reprise his role as Mal Oretsev
- Danielle Galligan in the role of Nina Zenik
- Zoë Wanamaker will play Baghra
- Luke Pasqualino will play David Kostyk
We also expect to see Patrick Gibson as Nikolai Lantsov, Jack Wolfe as Wylan Hendriks, Lewis Tan as Tolya Yul-Bataar, and Anna Leong Brophy as Tamar Kir-Bataar.
Sadly, Ben Barnes as General Aleksander Kirigan / The Darkling will most likely not be back in the third season after what happened to him in the previous season finale. Nevertheless, there’s still a possibility of bringing him back through magic.
