Ryûhei Kitamura’s upcoming direction will be set in an Island wherein the protagonists will have to fight for their survival following an unfortunate chain of events. Titled as ‘Apex’, the film will showcase a newly engaged couple, Jenna and Tyler who decide to spend their time at a tropical resort in order to celebrate their engagement. Accompanying them in the trip is the fiancé’s young niece Tori and his aunt Mel. When Tyler and Tori book the group on an adventurous tour of the island, despite Jenna’s hesitance owing to her fear of the ocean, trouble begins to ensue. As they all board a boat and set out to the open water with their guide, who goes by the name of Jones, tension rises between Jenna and Tori. Tori’s bashing of her aunt’s fear of water bodies ends up pushing Jenna into diving with the seemingly harmless whale sharks. However, as Jenna returns to the boat, it soon becomes evident that Tyler is missing. In her pursuit of her fiancé, Jenna sets out in the water and is consequentially surrounded by great white sharks summoned to the water by
Jones and his crew by dumping dead fish in the ocean. What follows is Jenna and Tori teaming up to defeat the enemies above and below the surface.
