Prometheus is an American and a British science fiction horror film that premiered on June 1, 2012, and June 8, 2012, in the UK and the US respectively. Directed by Ridley Scott and written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof, the film grossed over $403 million worldwide.
Meanwhile, the sequel to Prometheus titled “Alien: Covenant” also directed by Ridley Scott and penned by John Logan and Dante Harper was released in May 12, 2017, in the United Kingdom and May 19, 2017, in the United States, earned over $240 million at the box office against a budget of $97–111 million.
Originally the film was set in the late 21st century and follows a crew of the spaceship named Prometheus. It stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, and Charlize Theron.
Prometheus is produced by David Giler, Walter Hill, Ridley Scott in association with Scott Free Productions, Brandywine, and Dune Entertainment. ALL-IN-ALL, the series turned out to be a huge hit!

Why is Prometheus’ story a legend?
Prometheus is one of the massive blockbuster hits and among the top ranked sci-fi horror movies. Having received a great critical acclaim and worldwide praise in 2012, the film is known for its designs and storyline. From cast performance to a compelling plot, everything about the film is perfect.
The box office collection for Prometheus was $403.4 million. For its sequel, Alien: Covenant, the box office collection was $240.9 million.
Prometheus 3 spoilers: What is the movie’s cliffhanger?
The second part of the film ended with an incredible cliffhanger and was undoubtedly a financial hit. Walter was able to put Daniel back in statis. However, Daniel realized that Walter is David. Then, she starts a dispute with David but he puts her in Pod. She cannot escape and falls asleep.
Notifying all the crew members who were killed in the solar flare, David sends a transmission to expect Daniel and Tennessee and starts his experiments. Now, fans are eagerly awaiting the renewal of the third instalment where we will uncover more about Daniel’s experiments.
Will Prometheus return with a threequel?
It’s unclear if the third movie of Prometheus will happen since the filmmakers have not commented anything on it yet. After the first movie landed in 2012, there was about a gap of five years for a second movie to be released which was in 2017. So if a threequel were to happen it would be expected to be out in 2022 but we’re just days away from entering 2023. Hence, it is quite unlikely that we’d be getting the new movie this year. Since the filmmakers or the cast have not said anything, we doubt that a third movie will happen but we’re not sure for now. We expect to hear an official announcement soon.
Prometheus 3: Release Date
The first season of Prometheus 3 was released worldwide and distributed by 20th Century Fox on June 8, 2012. After a long wait of 5 years, due to the immense popularity and fandom, the movie was renewed for the next chapter in May 2017.
Although there’s no information provided by the franchise (as of now), we can expect Prometheus 3 to release by the end of 2023 or later!
Furthermore, in an interview, Scott said, “We went down a route to try and reinvent the wheel with Prometheus and Covenant. Whether or not we go directly back to that is doubtful because Prometheus woke it up very well. But you know, you’re asking fundamental questions like, ‘Has the Alien himself, the facehugger, the chestburster, have they all run out of steam? Do you have to rethink the whole bloody thing and simply use the word franchise?’ That’s always the fundamental question.” This also solidifies the chances of its arrival.

Plot

As of now, there’s been no official confirmation about the renewal of Prometheus 3. Generally, the trailers come out one or two months before the actual release of the show. Prometheus 3: Is it Happening?
As of April 2023, there’s not a single word from the filmmakers or the cast members concerning a third movie of Prometheus. Moreover, it’s been six years since the sequel came out and at this point, it’s difficult to tell if a threequel will even happen or not. Nevertheless, both films received mainly positive reviews from both the critics and the audiences. So based on that, there seems to be a bit of a chance for fans to see another movie.
