Directed by Kim Yoon-jin and screenplay by Lee Na-eun, Our Beloved Summer is a South Korean rom-com drama TV series that premiered on December 6, 2021, on SBS. The series stars Choi Woo-shik, Kim Da-mi, Kim Sung-cheol, and Roh Jeong-eui.
The series follows ex-flames who are compelled to come together by fate after their documentary which they took back in their high school days went viral. Despite their vows never to see each other again, they were bound to meet each other, which leads to having entangled feelings.
When this drama was released, its feel-good story touched the hearts of many people. Therefore, we can’t help but fall in love with this drama and the chemistry between the two main characters whom we adore at the pleasing aesthetics of the drama. Will there be a 2nd season of Our Beloved Summer?
Unfortunately, Our Beloved Summer has not been renewed for a second season by either Netflix, Studio N, SBS, or Super Moon Pictures. It might take a while till we hear an official announcement.
We know that many fans are disheartened by the lack of updates concerning the prospect of Our Beloved Summer, the fandom of this drama are well aware that the sixteen lists of episodes delivered could be the final time we would see the chemistry between Choi Ung and Kook Yeon-soo.
It’s rare for a drama that has a sixteen-episode run to make a return with another season. Nonetheless, if the show makers plan on returning with a second season they could have already renewed it following the success of the series but so far they haven’t renewed it. It could be that Our Beloved Summer will not have a second season although this is just a speculation.
Also in the finale, the couple were seen sitting together and happily announcing that they are now husband and wife. Sadly, this somewhat makes it clear that there are high chances that there won’t be a second season.

Actress Kim Da Mi via Soompi said “I was so happy living as Guk Yeon Soo for [these past] months. I’m grateful to the actors, directors, and staff members, who helped Guk Yeon Soo exist today, for giving me unforgettable memories. It’s unfortunate that there’s not much time left until I have to say goodbye as Guk Yeon Soo, but please watch Choi Woong and Guk Yeon Soo’s story until the end.”

As previously mentioned, there are no updates regarding the second season of Our Beloved Summer. Even if the show is renewed, new episodes won’t arrive until sometime in 2023.

We’re clueless about what will happen in the next season. The first season had a satisfying ending and in the finale itself, the couple announced as husband and wife, and what could be a better ending than that right? but on the off chance, if the director were to divert the story, the second season would probably focus on their daily lives and the challenges they face as husband and wife. Anyhow, before our assumptions run wildly let’s all wait for an official update.
