Written by Rachael New and Ben Edwards, Miss Scarlet and the Duke is the story of Eliza Scarlet’s origin. The series is executive produced by Todd Berger, Patrick Irwin, and Jin Ishimoto.
The hit British-Irish series stars Kate Phillips as Eliza Scarlet, the first-ever female detective in Victorian London.
The Season 4 directors include Nimer Rashed, Rachael New, and Milos Kodemo.
The show’s creators revealed that Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice inspired the character of Eliza Scarlet.
They also revealed that Eliza’s name combines the two literary heroines, Elizabeth Bennett and Scarlett O’Hara, from Gone with the Wind.
In an interview with alibi UK, Kate Phillips explains the complicated relationship between Eliza and the Duke in the show, saying:
“At the beginning, the Duke didn’t think that Eliza should be a detective. He thinks it’s dangerous for her and it’s not the job for a woman and that infuriates her.
So, I think Eliza thinks the Duke’s a good detective, that he’s good at his job and she respects him, but she thinks that he’s lazy and wants to close cases really quickly. What’s great about her is that she kind of whips him into shape and that’s the kind of tussle that they have throughout the whole series.”

Miss Scarlet and the Duke has been officially confirmed for a fourth season, Deadline first reported!
The mystery series will return to PBS probably in 2024, with filming and production currently underway in Serbia.
The official Twitter handle of the broadcast network also confirmed the news to the followers, quoting,
“The exciting news just keeps coming for #MissScarletPBS fans! Now that you’ve finished S2, and maybe even started watching S3 w/ @PBS Passport or on the PBS MASTERPIECE Prime Video Channel, we’re thrilled to share that the series has been renewed for S4 and filming is underway.”

What will the storyline for season 4 be about?
The first season of the series debuted in March 2020.
It focused on Eliza Scarlet’s origin story, as she was left penniless after her father, Henry Scarlet, unexpectedly passed away.
She took a brave decision and didn’t marry for financial security but continued her father’s detective agency. In the male-dominated detective world, building a reputation as a female detective was quite a struggle for her.
The following two seasons focused on her everyday challenges as she competes with a rival agency.
Navigating her stormy relationship with The Duke while dealing with complex cases of disappearances, financial struggles, murders, corruption, even bomb threats, the fourth season of the series will likely pick up from here.

“A disappearing magician, police corruption, a potential life-changing financial windfall, and an explosive season finale — Eliza has her share of fresh and surprising challenges as she struggles to build her detective agency.
