Even though she had fun working on the series, Tigelaar admitted that it would be tough to bring Mia and Elena together given their explosive relationship. Even if they did decide to produce, it would be a spin-off or something like that.

When Will ‘Little Fires Everywhere’ Season 2 Release?
The showrunner mentioned that they are facing difficulties with the production, given the covid situation. If the series gets renewed, it’s likely to take a while before fans can expect season 2.
The author of the book, Celeste Ng said she would “never say never” to a second season. However, it looks like it will be a while before she revisits the characters. Furthermore, speaking to Vulture, the author, who also produced the series said: “These characters may come back to me with an idea about more stories that need to be told. Right now, I feel like the series did such a good job of ending where you have an idea of what people’s trajectory is going to be,”
“So right now, I don’t have more to say about them, but maybe three years from now, we’ll make another episode, and there’s gonna be a hot priest,” Ng added. Well, considering all that she said, Little Fires Everywhere season 2 won’t be happening any time now! That’s right, the show did end on a pretty conclusive note, and like Ng said, there’s not much to build the plot around (as of now). However, a few years down and season 2 might happen. It’s hard to say goodbye, but there’s something about trying to extend it past its shelf life that I feel would dishonor what it was.”
