Will Lessons in Chemistry Season 2 be Renewed or Canceled?
The good news is that despite the season 1 finale airing in November, Garmus has acknowledged in a recent interview that he feels tempted to carry on Zott’s journey, leaving the door open for a potential second season of Lessons in Chemistry.
“I revisit her every day because I’m never going to get off this book promotion. I’m trying to write another novel. People keep asking me if I’m going to write a sequel and right now the answer is no because I started on this other story that I really like and I really feel like those characters are like “Me! Me! Me! Me!” Characters are really demanding.”
The fan-favorite author acknowledged how “I do think maybe down the road, I would tell a little bit more of what happens to her.” She added how stories of women successfully breaking the glass ceiling doesn’t mean that everything’s fixed just like that, as she exclaimed “Patriarchy!”
Lessons in Chemistry Season Two Cast: Who’s gonna be in it?
At this time of writing, the makers haven’t revealed the official star cast list for season 2. However, we expect the return of almost all the cast members from the previous season, including:
- Brie Larson will return as Elizabeth Zott
- Lewis Pullman will return as Calvin Evans
- Aja Naomi King will return as Harriet Slone
- Stephanie Koenig will return as Fran Frask
- Patrick Walker will return as Wakely
- Thomas Mann will return as Boryweitz
- Kevin Sussman will return as Walter
Lessons in Chemistry Season 2 Release Date
There are currently no firm plans in place for Lessons in Chemistry to return for a second season. Although it may be disappointing, the show’s creators haven’t said “no” to a second season.
Showrunner Lee Eisenberg stated to TODAY.com earlier this month that he was amenable to a second season. Eisenberg remarked, “It’s so encouraging to hear that viewers enjoy the show so much that they want to keep watching to see where these characters go.” “And we would love to explore it if we have the right story.”
Executive producer Sarah Adina Smith did, however, also tell the site that she thought the miniseries format was a nice touch. “I adore the limited series format because it has a beginning, middle, and end, and it doesn’t just keep getting bigger and bigger,” Smith said. The novel’s author, Bonnie Garmus, stated that she does not currently have any intentions to write a sequel to the book, although she did mention that a new book based on Elizabeth’s may be forthcoming.
“People frequently ask me if I plan to write a sequel, and at this time, I can’t say that because I’m working on another story that I really enjoy, and I feel like those characters are saying, ‘Me! Me! Me! Me!'” According to Garmus, “characters are really demanding,” The Los Angeles Times. “However, I do believe that in the future, I might reveal a little bit more about what happens to her and to Mad because everything isn’t fixed like it is at the end of the book.”
