‘Doctor Who’, the series that took sci-fi fans by the storm upon its premiere is currently developing its fifteenth season and rumor has it that Rachel Talalay and Chanya Button will be heading the direction of the upcoming seasons. The 14th season of ‘Doctor Who’ is reportedly under production and will most likely premiere on 2024, and with the series being renewed for yet another season, it is certain that further exciting plot lines are yet to come.
‘Doctor Who’ originally aired in 1963 on BBC Network with William Henry Hartnell being cast as the first doctor. The series rand for 26 seasons till 1989 with many additions tot he cast such as Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee and more carrying on the role of the titular character. ‘Doctor Who’ narrated the story of the ‘Doctor’ an almost 2000 year old scientist who time travels using his device, the TARDIS. The series was an instant hit, garnering a massive fan base through the years it premiered. ‘Doctor Who’ was relaunched in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston performing the role of the Doctor. The relaunch had 13 successful seasons with actors Matt Smith, David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker and more donning the popular character. The 2005 ‘Doctor Who’ received multiple spin offs following its release.
Reprisals for The Upcoming Season
Julie Gardner, Jane Tranter, Phil Collinson and Vicki Delow will be returning to the series as its producers with Russell T Davies reprising his role as the show runner. Russell T Davies is a popular screenwriter whose other works include, ‘Torchwood’, ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’ (spin offs of ‘Doctor Who’), ‘Banana’ and more. Julie Gardner is the recipient of numerous accolades including the British Academy Television Award and more. Jane Tranter is another known producer whose other works include, ‘The Wyvern Mystery’ and ‘My Summer with Des’. Some of Phil Collinson’s notable works are ‘Queer as Folk’ and ‘Doctor Who Confidential’ which showcased the behind the scenes of the popular television series. Vicki Delow is known for ‘Humans’, ‘The Last Kingdom’ and more.
The upcoming seasons of ‘Doctor Who’ will be run through Disney+ with several new additions to the cast and crew. Ncuti Gatwa, a fan favorite will be joining the cast as the fifteenth Doctor alongside Millie Gibson who will be playing the role of Ruby Sunday. Ncuti Gatwa is a known actor who is popular for his performance as Eric in ‘Sex Education’, and Nick from ‘The Last Letter From Your Lover’. Millie Gibson is another well known actress who is known for her role as Kelly Neelan in ‘Coronation Street’ and more.
