FIVEINTHEMORNING FILMS is gearing up for a new project titled as, ‘The Beautiful Brain of Billy Bendecido’. The feature film will showcase the story of Billy Bendecido, a talented Afro Latino painter who fights back against unyielding hallucinations as it begins to affect his creativity, sanity and survival following a traumatic brush with the law. FIVEINTHEMORNING FILMS is a surfacing production company.
A Look at the Crew
The feature film will be directed by Hisonni Mustafa, a known filmmaker. Some of the popular works of Hisonni Mustafa include, ‘Chalk It Up’ which premiered in 2016 and starred Maddy Curley and John DeLuca, ‘Take Out Girl’ a thriller starring Hedy Wong, Tania Nolan, Ski Carr and more. Additionally, Hisonni Mustafa will be composing the screenplay for ‘The Beautiful Brain of Billy Bendecido’ alongside J. Teddy Garces. J. Teddy Garces is an emerging artist who is primarily known for his character portrayal in ‘The Guild’, a TV series that ran for 6 seasons. He was also one of the cast members in Hisonni Mustafa’s ‘Take Out Girl’. His other works include, ‘Zane’s The Jump Off’ which premiered on Cinemax as a drama series, ‘Where Hope Grows’ which was released in 2014, and ‘Under the Same Moon’ which was directed by Patricia Riggen, to name a few.
Joining the crew for ‘The Beautiful Brain of Billy Bendecido’ as the film’s producers are Anna Porter, Randy Porter, M. Enmanuel, Noam Dromi and Austin Highsmith Garces. Anna Porter is primarily known as a author/ publisher. Randy Porter and M. Enmanuel are emerging producers. Noam Dromi is a known producer and an executive Producer of Reboot Studios. Austin Highsmith Garces is primarily known as an actress and her works include, ‘Dolphin Tale’ film series which had its first film premiere in 2014 as an adventure movie, ‘A Country Romance’ which was directed by Danny Roth, ‘Circle of Eight’ which premiered in 2009 and ‘Psycho Granny’ which premiered in 2019, among others. Also, J. Teddy Garces and Hisonni Mustafa will be co- producing the upcoming feature film.
What to Expect?
In an interview with Canvas Rebel Magazine, J. Teddy Garces described the upcoming project as a story hat has been in his mind for nearly 2 decades. He also revealed how the story is personal for him as it talks about the meaning behind art and its healing capacities. Through the magazine interview, it is hinted that J. Teddy Garces will be playing the title character.
Currently, the feature film is set to commence its shooting in early 2024 with Las Vegas serving as the primary filming spot. It will be interesting to see how Las Vegas plays into the plotline of ‘The Beautiful Brain of Billy Bendecido’ as the place is one of the prime spots for entertainment and art in America.
