Chuck Berry, the Rock and Roll pioneer, singer and guitarist is one of the music legends to have lived on this planet. With great success in his life coming from his professional dedication in the field of music industry. There’s been an aspect of his personal life that remained scarred because of the controversies he was embroiled in. As some serious allegations were put on Berry leading to his arrest multiple times.

The Southern Air restaurant scandal of Chuck Berry still remains as one of the biggest controversies of his life.

Chuck Berry and his rise to fame

Singer and guitarist Chuck Berry whose full name was Chuck Edward Anderson Berry is widely known around the world for having pioneered Rock and Roll. That gave him the title of “Father of Rock and Roll” too. He left a great impact on the rock music.

Berry had developed interest in music since an early age. As he grew up, he became widely known for his great music and the impact it had on the industry. Although, keeping aside his much honoured musical background and the great discography of him. His personal life did keep Berry embroiled in controversies a few times.

In fact, the allegations on him were such that he was even arrested multiple times for the same. Yet, that area of Chuck Berry remains away from spotlight now. But back when the controversies came up about the Rock n Roll legend, he was found guilty of some offensive crimes and it drew a lot of attention too.

It came as a big shock for the Berry fans when in 1959, the pioneer of Rock n Roll was arrested. As he was charged for taking a minor across the state lines for some “immoral purposes”. On being guilty for the same, Berry was jailed for two years.

Another most popular controversy of Chuck Berry’s life came when in 1980s he went on to own Southern Air restaurant. Although, everyone was left shocked when the restaurant’s former cook, Hosana A. Huck alleged Berry of videotaping women by installing a camera in the women’s toilet.

Later, police had even found some shocking intimate videotapes of women on Berry’s residence. Owing to which he was arrested and Berry had to settle the lawsuit against him. Despite these and more such controversies in the name of Berry. His music still remained to rule the industry.

After years of fame and some controversies to deal with in his life. That even honored him with the title of Father of Rock n Roll. It was on 18th March, 2017 that Berry took his last breath. The pioneer was found unresponsive at his residence in Missouri.

After efforts of trying to revive the legend, his physician pronounced the legend dead. Days later his funeral was held in presence of his close ones and family. With which his glory and the controversies that he owned in his life too were laid to rest.
