Lethal Weapon is an American buddy cop action-comedy media franchise. The first edition of the film debuted on March 6, 1987 while the last that is the fourth edition debuted in 2016. Created by Shane Black, the series follows the journey of lives of two Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) detectives, Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh.
It stars Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Gary Busey, Damon Wayans, Clayne Crawford, Jordana Brewster, Keesha Sharp, Kevin Rahm, Johnathan Fernandez, Chandler Kinney, Dante Brown, Michelle Mitchenor, and Seann William Scott in the lead star cast.
Lethal Weapon is produced by Silver Pictures in association with Richard Donner and Joel Silver.
Are Danny Glover and Bob Jennings going to join ‘Lethal Weapon 5’?
As of now, there has not been any official announcement whether these two famous Lethal Weapon faces are going to make a comeback in the first edition of the series as well or not. No confirmation regarding their arrival has been announced neither from the production end nor from the cast himself.
However, speaking about the film, Mel Gibson said, “The man who directed all the Lethal films, Richard Donner, he was a big guy.(Donner) was developing the screenplay and he got pretty far along with it. And he said to me one day, ‘Listen kid, if I kick the bucket you will do it.’ And I said, ‘Shut up.’”
Mel Gibson added: “But he did indeed pass away. But he did ask me to do it and at the time I didn’t say anything. He said it to his wife and to the studio and the producer. So I will be directing the fifth one.”
