Will Coroner Season 5 be renewed or canceled?
As of yet, Coroner season 5 has neither been renewed nor canceled. However, fans of Stateside Coroner may be wondering if they’ll actually be witnessing the show’s swan song as they get ready to watch Season 4 on The CW, which premiered on Sunday, October 2. The season followed the plot of the Canadian drama Family Law.
Swan, who starred in the series as coroner Jenny Cooper, was revealed as having “made the decision to leave the series to focus on new creative endeavors including directing, and we are now discussing options with the producers in light of her departure” by CBC Entertainment General Manager Sally Catto back in June.
Catto continued, “We appreciate Serinda’s choice to embark on a new artistic endeavor and express our gratitude for her unwavering devotion to realizing Dr. Jenny Cooper.”
Is it possible for Coroner to survive in a different form? Or has its viewership declined to the point where the series’ continued existence was called into question? For example, cast member Roger Cross, who co-stars as Detective Donovan “Mac” McAvoy, stated in a late June tweet to a fan that a Season 5 pickup was “not looking like.”
Echoing much of Catto’s June statement, a CBC representative said, “We are continuing to discuss options with the series producers in light of Serinda Swan’s departure from Coroner, given her decision to leave the show at the end of Season 4 to focus on new creative endeavors, including directing.” “At this time, there are no new updates available.”
The complete episodes of The Coroner that were last seen on The CW app will be available again on September 4. The episodes from Season 4 will be posted to The CW App the day after they premiere.
