In the past, Lee Dong-Sik (Shin Ha-Kyun) was a skilled detective. He is currently employed at the Manyang Police Substation in a small city, where he performs all the laborious tasks. There, his life is peaceful. The same police substation receives the transfer of Detective Han Joo-Won (Yeo Jin-Goo) one day.
He serves as both Lee Dong-Sik’s partner and boss at work. Elite detective Han Joo-Won hails from a prestigious background. His father stands a good chance of succeeding as National Police Agency chief. Han Joo-Won is hiding something, too. There is a case of serial killings in the tiny, tranquil city. Lee Dong-Sik’s life was altered by a serial murder case that occurred 20 years prior. To find the murderer, the two detectives are at work.
In Beyond Evil, Lee Dong-sik (Shin Ha-kyun) and Han Joo-won (Yeo Jin-goo), two daring police officers from the Manyang Police Substation[a] of the Munju Police Station (located in the western section of Gyeonggi Province), tell their experience of breaking the law to apprehend a serial killer. They begin to doubt the innocence of everyone connected in the case, including themselves, as they try to identify the perpetrator. “Who or what is the monster?” The question “Is it you?” “Is it us?” and “Is it me?”
