‘Always a Witch’ is a fantasy Rom-Com Colombian web television series based on the book “Yo, bruja” written by Isidora Chacón. This show is created by Ana María Parra and directed by Matt Earl Beesley along with Liliana Bocanegra, Mateo Stivelberg, and Louis Milito.
What Is The Show About?
The show follows a time-travelling witch from the seventeenth century that got away from being killed and discovers that she’s in modern-day Cartagena in Colombia. It has two seasons so far with eighteen episodes overall. The first season premiered on February 19, 2019, with a total of 10 episodes. Following the first season’s success, Netflix renewed for a second season which was released on February 28, 2020, across the globe comprising eight episodes. The show is available in the English dub for English speaking audiences.
‘Always A Witch’ Season 3 Release Date: When will it air?
Unfortunately, there’s no official release date available at the moment as the show hasn’t been renewed by Netflix yet the renewal status is still pending. It’s unlikely that the show will be able to premiere this year let alone even get renewed by Netflix but hopefully, by next year the show gets commissioned for a third season.
What’s even more surprising is that it’s nearly 2 years and so far, the series not being renewed is quite unexpected despite the show’s immense popularity. If the series thus indeed gets renewed, it won’t arrive until late 2022 or early 2023.
‘Always A Witch’ Season 3: The Cast
If season 3 happened main casts will return including Angely Gaviria (as Carmen Eguiluz), Lenard Vanderaa (as Cristobal De Aranoa), Carlos Quintero (as León), Sebastián Eslava (as Esteban), Cristina Warner (as Isabel de Aranoa), Sofia Bernal Araujo (as Alicia), Valeria Henríquez (as Mayte), and Dylan Fuentes (as Johnny Ki) and maybe some new faces.
‘Always A Witch’ Season 3: The Plot— What Could Happen In Season 3?
The series revolves around a woman named Carmen Eguilez, a seventeenth Century witch and a slave who falls deeply in love with the slave master’s son, Cristobal.
During that era, the black race are awfully discriminated and therefore, they are treated as slaves and a romance between a black lady, a slave and a white man is beyond unacceptable by society. When Isabel, the mother of Cristobal discovered their relationship, she immediately blamed Carmen for using witchcraft to seduce his son and Carmen’s punishment is to be burnt alive at the stake.
Just moments before the execution, a powerful sorcerer Aldemar offered Carmen to flee from that place. Her choice is to travel in a time where people do not believe in the existence of Witches. However, the cost of the price is that she must never use her abilities ever again.
Desperate to escape from death, Carmen promised that she’ll never use her powers, and she was teleported to modern-day Cartagena in Colombia. But no matter where she is and how much she tries to hide her identity, someday her true identity is bound to reveal itself.
In the second season, we witnessed Carmen in an attempt to enhance her abilities to travel back to its original time and place to save her mother. The second season is mostly about Carmen and how she tries to control and strengthen her powers.
If the series gets renewed for a third instalment, we’re expected to see character development or more of a different and powerful Carmen who will depart on a long journey and for the story to be more overpowering than the previous two seasons.
We’ll update this post over time once we get all the latest information on Always a Witch Season 3- its renewal status and release date.
