‘Holderness Family Music’ is a YouTube Channel dedicated to releasing parodies to popular songs on a variety of topics often centered on humorous encounters. The channel has been active on YouTube for nearly 11 years and is quite popular. Headed by Kim and Penn Holderness, the group is known for a number of their videos one of which was a parody that was made from the negative comments the channel was receiving, which went viral years ago. Lately, the video seems to be resurfacing on social media.
In 2015, the Holderness Family released a music video featuring Kim and Penn Holderness alongside several other vocalists. The video was a song that the group composed using the negative comments their channel had received into lyrics. The song resembled ‘Seasons of Love’ from ‘Rent’ in tune and had its verses sung by Kim and Penn Holderness with other vocalists joining for the chorus. The song became popular for its creative use of random comments, with CNN covering news on the channel and the music video.
The Holderness Family’s song is definitely one that peaked the interests of many. To sing with rhythm on random sentences that do not provide a connected meaning and make it catchy is something that the group managed to do and was also something that several viewers seem to enjoy. The fact that the family’s YouTube channel is still running actively a decade later is an indicator of their popularity. Some of ‘Holderness Family Music’s recent videos are X-Mas Jammies which was released last December and resembled the Christmas video from 2013 (which is allegedly considered their first viral video). Following their usual inclusion of humor, the song was a throwback to their content creations and felt reminiscent to several viewers and subscribers as pointed out in its comment section.
