Debuted in 2017, NBC’s This Is Us has become one of the most popular family dramas on American television since then. The fact that it was renewed for two more seasons in its premiere year is a testimony to its popularity. Furthermore, the series scored a renewal for three more installments. With season five currently running, fans are eagerly looking forward to its last season already. Sadly, season 6 will mark the end of the journey of Pearsons who have had a special place in our hearts.

Release date of This is Us Season 6
The series has always followed a mid-September schedule with an exception to its last season which was pulled back due to nationwide restraints. It is not surprising that part five comprises 16 episodes rather than its usual 18 sets of episodes. Although there is no word about the premiere of season six, it is a fair assumption that it will not drop until the first half of 2022. Considering that NBC has not put it on its fall release lineup, the speculation is likely to be true.
Plot of This is Us Season 6
Previously, the storyline centered around Jack pearson’s upbringing in an abusive family and then tying the knots with Rebecca and nurturing a family of five. Has not it time to see more of Rebecca Pearson in the series last season? The flashforwards will see Rebecca on her death bed in their old home. Other than this, the escalating tension between Toby and Kate is indicating the separation of the two. Kevin fails to confront his love for Madison which resulted in calling off their wedding. However, that turns them into a friendly couple raising twins together. Randall’s New Yorker profile says, “A rising star.” Seems many stories are building around the characters, yet we are keen to see the story that will be complete the Pearsons picture and give us closure.
Cast of This is Us Season 6
Season 6 will see the return of the Pearson’s for one last time- Milo Ventimiglia as Jack Pearson, Mandy Moore as Rebecca Pearson, Sterling K. Brown as Randall Pearson, Chrissy Metz as Kate Pearson, and Justin Hartley as Kevin Pearson. The cast will also include the adult Pearson’s spouses, kids, and friends. Be ready to see several recurring characters. Nicky Pearson, Jack’s brothers who reunited with the family after decades, is likely to play a crucial role in This is Us’s last chapter. Griffin Dunne will reprise his role as Nicky. Chris Geere will appear as Kate’s music academy’s boss. Philip, which she would end up marrying.

Updated on September 21, 2021- It’s officially confirmed that This is Us season 6 will be the final outing of NBC’s show.
Nearly two years ago, the NBC show, This is Us was commissioned for three more seasons. Creator Dan Fogelman revealed that the series will no longer be renewed for another season after the sixth season.

Fogelman via The Hollywood Reporter said: “We never set out to make a television series that was going to last 18 seasons, so we have a very direct plan. I have script pages I have written. We have a plan for what we’re going to do, and I know what the plan is.”
In August, the creator of the series disclosed that the executives from NBC were quite touched and on the verge of tears after going through with the script from the sixth season of This is us.
He said: “People were crying to the point that I wasn’t sure if I should keep going or not… Cameras were shutting off, and I thought I’d lost people. I just finished writing the season premiere, and it’s the second time I’ve cried while writing the show. I was like, ‘Oh, God, what’s happening?’ The first time was when William died. That made me cry.”

Stars on the set were also seen crying learning that this will be the last season that the family will be shooting together. Mandy Moore also hints at the emotional final season for This Is Us. Moore said that there’s going to be more tears while watching the sixth season of This is us.
She said, “It’s already tearing. Tears for the material and tears for the fact that we’re leaving this family. This family is disbanding. But we have many, many months and episodes to shoot.”
It’s heartbreaking to learn that This is Us will come to an end after the sixth season. Many fans have also expressed their dismay after learning that they’ll have to bid goodbye to their favourite show.
