What led to the cancelation of The purge season 3?
The Purge was not greenlit for another season due to several reasons. According to Deadline, its second season saw a 50 percent drop in viewership numbers and considering its high cost of production, the network decided not to continue with it. Additionally, USA Network’s significant programming change and shift in its focus to live shows, and unscripted series from the original scripted shows is said to be a huge reason behind the decision. Since USA Network is owned by NBC Universal, it is not likely that the series will be picked up by any other network. Therefore, the third season is not ever happening.
What could be the story of a possible The Purge Season three?
The Purge Season one portrays the Purge night- the 12 hours of incessant crimes, murders, loot, and lore, and the central characters finding ways to survive the violence and bloodshed. Although the characters lack a definite connection with one another, season one was received with a mixed bag of reviews from audiences and critics alike. While season two saw the aftermath of Purge Night at its first round of episodes, it concluded with the emergence of a resistance group of members following NFFA (New Founding Fathers of Members) taking to brutal killings of civilians. Given the different timelines, characters, and storylines of the previous seasons, it is very hard to predict what could be a season three of The Purge be about. Nevertheless, we have ample content material from the franchise to continue the series plot. Season three might draw content from The Purge: Election Year in which Charlie Roan runs for presidential elections to bring an end to The Purge and NFFA. Although this is just a hypothesis, nothing is yet confirmed.
