Payton, a pupil from Santa Barabara, ever since when he was young has always felt that one day he’ll be the President of the US. But the main problem is that he’ll have to keep in control the most corrupt political parties of all. i.e. St. Sebastian High School.

It stars Ben Platt, Zoey Deutch, Lucy Boynton, Bob Balaban, David Corenswet, Julia Schlaepfer, Laura Dreyfuss, Theo Germaine, Rahne Jones, Benjamin Barrett, Jessica Lange, and Gwyneth Paltrow as the lead star cast of the series. The politician is produced by Kenneth Silverstein, Todd Nenninger, Lou Eyrich, Eryn Krueger Mekash, Kristin Bernstein, and Jeff Dickerson in association with Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Ian Brennan, Alexis Martin Woodall, Ben Platt, and Gwyneth Paltrow as the executive producers.

The Politician Season 3: Release Date

The Politician has two seasons and 15 episodes overall which last aired on Netflix. The first season was released on September 27, 2019, with 8 episodes and the second season was released on June 19, 2020, with 7 episodes. As for the third season, there is no official release date since the series hasn’t been renewed yet. But if Netflix gives the green signal for the series’ third instalment, it’ll arrive by the end of 2022 or sometime in 2023.

The Politician season 3 renewal has not been announced by the cast or crew. However, Ryan Murphy wants to make a third season. He believes a third season of The Politician will be the last and that Ben Platt should return as Payton Hobart.

Murphy told Collider, “I think where Season two ends, what I would love to do is take a couple of years off and have Ben Platt get a little bit older for his final race.” He said The Politician will stop after three seasons.

Unfortunately, the official confirmation on the renewal status of the series’ third season is not announced yet. This is probably not the best news for the fans since it’s been two years and we haven’t got any updates. However, the series plans to return with a new season at some point.

Speaking with Collider, series writer and executive producer Ryan Murphy admitted that he’s willing to do at least a total of three seasons.

“I would like to do, and I think all of us involved in it would probably like to do three seasons total,” Murphy told the news outlet. “And I think where Season 2 ends, what I would love to do is take a couple of years off and have Ben Platt get a little bit older for his final race. That would obviously be a presidential race, right? That’s always what we had designed, and I think that’s what our plan is.”

The Politician Season 3: Plot

Plot details are scarce at the moment as the third instalment is yet to be renewed but since the second season ended on a cliffhanger, it would be such a disappointment if the series were to be cancelled without a third season. In an interview with the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy via Collider said that “I would like to do, and I think all of us involved in it would probably like to do three seasons total.”

With that said, pretty sure we’re getting a third season but first, let’s all wait for an official announcement.

Is “The Politician” based on a true story?

“The Politician” is a work of fiction, but it includes some plot elements that are reminiscent of real-life events. One such example is the character of Infinity, who becomes Payton’s running mate in the school election. Infinity is portrayed as a seemingly shy girl who is fighting cancer, which is a real-life struggle faced by many people. The show explores how Infinity’s illness affects her life and relationships, and how it becomes a part of her public persona as she campaigns with Payton.

Will Netflix Greenlit The Politician for Season 3?

As of May 2022, sadly, Netflix still hasn’t given the green signal for the series’ third season run. Many fans are wondering why the streaming is taking such an awful lot of time to renew the series. Well, the thing is to renew a series’ viewerships, and ratings are taken into account given The Politician has stable ratings and viewerships, we’re certain that the series will return with another season although we’re not sure when it will happen.
