Is it possible for Zoey and Ben to face another round with Minos after Escape Room: Tournament of Champions: everything we know so far?
Escape Room: Tournament of Champions, like the first film, ends on a cliffhanger, teasing Minos’ return in Escape Room 3. Here’s all we learn about the plot, characters, and potential release date for the third instalment of this brain-teasing horror franchise so far. The horror sequel reintroduces Zoey (Taylor Russell) and Ben (Logan Miller), the two survivors from the original film, as they unexpectedly discover themselves trapped in the world’s deadliest escape room, now accompanied by survivors from prior Mino’s escape rooms.
To put it, everyone was in the escape room during the first film since they were the only survivors of the catastrophe, so what is the motive for this round, and why has Minos gathered former champions?
To explain everything and how everything ties together into possible Escape Room 3, we’ll have to get into spoilers for Escape Room: Tournament of Champions, so if you haven’t seen it yet, turn away now.
Will There be Escape Room 3?
In a chat with Entertainment Weekly, Escape Room director Adam Robitel revealed:
“We have a treasure trove of ideas [for a third Escape Room movie]. It’s really going to be up to the fans. But, look, there’s a lot of ways to skin the cat, there’s a lot of different ways to continue to play with the audience’s expectations. Yeah, we’d be really excited to do that.” So yes, chances of a part 3 happening are very much likely.
“Escape Room: Tournament of Champions” first began with a production budget of just about $15 million, and it collected over $51 million when the second movie was launched. That was a serious reduction compared to what the first movie had achieved, but the good news is the necessary profits were attained, and with a strong fan base from across the globe, part 3 of the movie is anticipated to be a success.
Release Date
Escape Room 3 doesn’t have a set release date yet. Escape Room: Tournament of Champions was supposed to come out roughly 16 months after the first film, however, it was postponed because of the pandemic. If Escape Room 3 gets given the go-ahead soon, it might begin production this year, with a release date in the end of 2022 or somewhere in 2023.
The Cast
Taylor Russell and Logan Miller resumed their roles as Zoey Davis and Ben Miller in the film ‘Escape Room: Tournament of Champions.’ Holland Roden, Indya Moore, Carlito Olivero, and Thomas Cocquerel will play Rachel Ellis, Brianna Collier, Theo, and Nathan, respectively. Deborah Ann Woll, who played Amanda Harper in the last film, repeats her role in this one.
Miller and Russell are now more likely to be back in ‘Escape Room 3,’ although Woll is also a possibility. Considering his character’s cast, it’s possible that the famous figure “Daredevil” will play a significant role in the future instalment. Moore, Roden, Cocquerel, and Olivero’s possibilities of coming back are not specified, but they are slim. In the next chapter of Escape Room 3, we’re also anticipating seeing some fresh faces.
Plot: What to Expect?
The reality surrounding Minos is finally revealed close to the end of ‘Escape Room: The Championship.’ Zoey and Ben boarded a flight to return home. Shortly as they believe the nightmare is over, Zoey suspects the flight is also one of Minos’ escaping death chambers. When the jet started to refuel, his concerns were confirmed.
We’ll most likely uncover the answer to the suspenseful ending of a previous film in Room 3. Zoey and Ben may well have made it through the nightmare, but they now find themselves in the middle of a perilous puzzle. Amanda may be able to assist Zoey and Ben in successfully defeating the Minos by sharing internal information. Zoey could potentially accept to work with Minos and sabotage their performance.
