The Good Detective is a South Korean crime mystery drama TV series available for streaming on Netflix. The initial air date for the show was scheduled for April 27, 2020, but had to be pushed back due to the Covid-19 pandemic related issues. The show then premiered on JTBC from July 6 to August 25, 2020, which ran for 16 episodes. After the immense success of the first season, the show was given the green signal for a second season and fans couldn’t be happier by this great piece of news. However, we’re still yet to get an official announcement regarding the upcoming season of the drama “The Good Detective.” Here’s everything we know so far:
The Good Detective Season 2 Release Date— When is it?
As of now, the official release date of The Good Detective Season 2 is not out yet but it’ll likely be out by late 2022 or sometime in 2023 on Netflix although this is just our prediction. But once the production starts, we’ll have a clear idea of the release date. The production team declared several months ago that the production for the second season will commence by October 2021. Maybe we’ll get an update soon from the team.
Has Filming Wrapped for Season 2 of The Good Detective?
Since filming began in October 2021, it most likely has wrapped as it is already May 2022. But according to reports, production was halted as actor Son Hyun Joo was diagnosed with COVID-19 during the time of filming.
Starcom explained, “Son Hyun Joo was filming JTBC’s “The Good Detective” Season 2 when he tested positive and filming is currently on pause.”
However, JTBC disclosed a statement declaring that they will proceed with the drama’s production plan without any problems.
As of now, there have been no official updates but the drama will likely be back very soon with the second season.

The Good Detective Season 2: Plot— What to Expect?
The story revolves around a suspenseful part that mainly highlights mystery, crime, investigation etc. In this drama, the detectives have some kind of a job that they are required to complete within a short amount of time with their investigative skills and sharp mind to unravel the case. Their primary objective was to locate criminals and showcase the truth behind the case they were assigned to solve. Kang Do Chang who is the leader of the team utilizes his past case knowledge and private sources to find all the missing puzzle pieces and to bring out the truth and bring justice to the victims.
Jang Seung Jo, a quiet and shy detective whose task is to find evidence, figures, and facts. He is expressionless due to his painful childhood past. While Jin Se-Kyung who works as a journalist tries to bring the truth to light and also plays an important role. To solve the five-year-old case, Do-Chang and Seo-Kyung team up to solve the case. In the upcoming season of The Good Detective, the duo will continue to work together to solve many more cases.
