‘The Chosen’ began production in 2019 on Amazon Prime Video and Angel Studios. Viewing Jesus’ life mainly as a historical drama, this one-of-a-kind series offers a fresh take on his teachings.
Curiously, the show doesn’t center on Jesus himself but rather explores his encounters with his followers, giving an inside look at Christ from the people he touched.
Here’s everything you need to know about The Chosen season 4, including its release date, cast, plot, and other updates!
Will ‘The Chosen Season 4’ be renewed or canceled?
Yes, The Chosen Season 4 has officially been renewed; the production on Season 4, which started in March 2023, has now concluded.
Despite the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, filming on The Chosen continued throughout the year and was finally wrapped in July 2023.
Since it is an independent film funded entirely by crowdsourcing and angel investors, the unions granted the highly sought-after waiver to this production.
Working with Screen Actors Guild members is not the same as being affiliated with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).
Airings of Season 4 in Midlothian, Texas, proceeded as planned following the announcement of the waiver’s acquisition. Do watch out for more updates!
The Chosen Season 4 Cast: Who will return?
It is widely believed that the fourth season of The Chosen will include a cast that is mostly intact from the previous three.
Jesus Revolution’s Jonathan Roumie will reprise his role as the Messiah, and Madam Secretary’s Shara Isaac will reprise her role as Simon Peter. Elizabeth Tabish, who played Mary Magdalene in “The Shift,” will presumably reprise her role.
Each of the three actors—Roumie in particular as Jesus—has gotten rave reviews for his or her portrayal of a biblical figure in The Chosen.
However, they aren’t the only ones returning for season 4 of The Chosen; several of the other cast members, such as:
- Paras Patel as Matthew
- George H. Xanthis as John
- Noah James as Andrew
- Nick Shakoor as Zebedee
- Giavani Cairo as Thaddeus
- Shaan Sharma as Shmuel
- Lara Silva as Eden
- Abe Bueno-Jallad as Big James
- Brandon Potter as Quintus
- Kirk B. R. Woller as Gaius
- Jordan Walker Ross as Little James
- David Amito as John the Baptist
- Luke Dimyan as Judas Iscariot
