As per reports, the production company behind the drama Taxi Driver, Studio S, are in discussions to commence working for the second season very soon. Actor Lee Je Hoon dropped a major hint when he expressed that having a season 2 would be a great idea. What Is The Drama ‘Taxi Driver’ About?
‘Taxi Driver’ is a South Korean crime drama television series created by Studio S and Cho Sung-hoon adapted from a Webtoon- a digital comic ‘The Deluxe Taxi’ composed by Carlos and Lee Jae-jin. The series is directed by Park Joon-woo. The drama originally premiered on April 9 and ended on May 29, 2021. Upon the series release, it instantly became a huge hit in South Korea and across the globe.
The story follows Kim Do-ki, whose life is filled with undying rage and a strong desire for revenge after his birth mother was murdered. Soon afterwards, Jang Sung-chun brings him to join a taxi company known as the Rainbow Deluxe Taxi Company but there’s a twist- it’s an organisation that gives justice to the victims that the law had failed to do so.
However, a prosecutor named Kang Ha-na, can’t accept the activities of the taxi company, and she attempts to reveal the organisation’s secret. At first, she gets confused when she comes to know that Rainbow Deluxe Taxi Company isn’t as dangerous as she believed.
When Is The Taxi Driver Season 2 Arriving?
The exact release date of the second season is not announced yet but the much-awaited season is set for a 2022 release which means it’ll come out anytime soon.
According to a report, a source from SBS elucidated regarding the second season of Taxi Driver, “It is currently under discussion with the timing and schedules being coordinated. It has not been confirmed yet.”
Industry agents reported on July 6, 2021, that the drama series production company Studio S has officially confirmed the production for the second season planned for next year. The report also stated that the drama is currently working on reaching out to the stars and creating a production team.
Taxi Driver Season 2 Upcoming Cast
The official cast for the upcoming season has not been confirmed but it’s likely that the main cast will be returning to the screens once again including Lee Je-hoon (as Kim Do-gi), Kim Eui-sung (as Jang Sung-chul), and Pyo Ye-jin (as Ahn Go-eun).
Actress Esom is Out- She Won’t Return in The 2nd Season of Taxi Driver
We’re saddened to learn that Esom who played Kang Ha-na in the first season will not reprise her role in the upcoming season.
On March 8, 2022, the actress agency Artist Company discolosed in a statement to Newsen that Esom will not be returning in her role as prosecutor Kang Ha-na in the forthcoming second season of Taxi Driver. Her role as Ha-na was among the four central characters in the drama series’ first season, which was broadcasted in 2021.
“Her casting was discussed, but it is difficult for her to star in the new season due to scheduling issues,” the Company claimed, as interpreted by Soompi. So as of now, it not unclear if the actress will be recast or if her role will be strike out of the second season of Taxi Driver.
Taxi Driver Season 2 Plot
As for the plot, it’s not been revealed but Lee Je-hoon, the main protagonist, explained that the second season would probably focus on more crazy crime-related scenes. With that said, we can not wait to see the upcoming season.
