It looks like Ride Along 3 has been in development for years yet so far there’s been no concrete information on it but we do know that the sequel will hit the screens at some point.
The first part of the movie “Ride Along” was released on January 17, 2014 with Kevin Hart as security personnel attempting to convince his girlfriend’s brother who is a cop officer, (portrayed by Ice Cube), that he is qualified to be his brother-in-law. The movie was filmed in Atlanta. It collected over $150 million globally against a budget of $25 million.
The second movie, “Ride Along 2” was launched on January 15, 2016, with Hart having graduated from the cop institute and the two handling cases on crimes. The sequel collected over $120 million globally.
When it comes to “Ride Along 3” fans have a long wait for it and it looks like fans need to exercise more patience as nothing is known when the threequel will be out. Let’s find out more about it below–
Is the Ride Along threequel still in the works?
Because there’s been no official update, we believe that the third movie is perhaps still in the works.
The screenwriters who will be penning the script for the threequel are Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi along with director Tim Story. They have also worked on the previous two movies of “Ride Along”. Meanwhile, Ice Cube, late Larry Brezner, Matt Alvarez, and Will Packer served as producers for the first two films.
Back in 2016, in a conversation with TheWrap, director Tim Story revealed his then-forthcoming projects including “Ride Along 3,” with actor/rapper Ice Cube and funnyman Kevin Hart anticipated to return in the third movie.
“We’re writing the script right now, we’re writing away and basically, I’m waiting to see some pages and we’re excited for the idea and what it can be and of course bringing Kevin [Hart] and Ice Cube back together because they are the greatest odd couple in the world,” he explained. “I’m impatiently waiting for a script to be given to me. We have some great ideas.”
Ride Along 3 Release Date: When is it?
Not much is known about the upcoming third movie but many are expecting that the much-awaited film will be released towards the end of 2022 or sometime in 2023.

Ride Along 3 Expected Plot
Plot details are under wraps but according to speculations, the upcoming threequel will introduce the viewers to a new enemy, probably one of James’ enemies while he was serving as a cop in the past, who would expose danger to the family’s peaceful life.
Of course, the movie would focus more on James and Ben in it for some action as they tackle more dangerous situations.
