If you’re into mystery and a little bit of suspense and thriller look no further, “Missing: The Other Side” is a South Korean TV series that falls into the genre of fantasy/mystery that takes place in a very unusual yet bizarre village. After the success of the first movie, OCN, a platform for South Korea’s thriller shows, has officially confirmed a sequel “Missing: The other Side 2.” Here’s everything we know so far about the release date, cast and plot of the upcoming sequel.
Missing: The Other Side 2: Release Date- When will it Premiere?
As of now, the specific release date for the sequel is not out yet since it is still in the development stages.
Back in April 15, 2021, OCN disclosed to the Korean media forum Dong-a.com, “It is true that a second season of Missing: The Other Side is in the works. However, the drama’s direction and casting are yet to be decided. The production is also pending.” Also, the original cast members have reportedly conveyed that it is too quick to decide on their return on the series of the upcoming season.
Although the showmakers discreetly informed that the Missing: The Other Side 2 development is in the planning stage. The chief producer claimed last year that the show was already in talks to get renewed for another season after the first season which gained very good reviews from the audience.
If production begins by this year or by early 2022, the second season will likely be out in late 2022 or sometime in 2023.
The Cast
The official cast lineup for the upcoming season is not revealed yet but it is most likely that the major characters will return and hopeful the others too which includes Go Soo (as Kim Wook), Heo Jun-Ho (as Jang Pan-Seok), Ahn So-Hee (as Lee Jong-A), Seo Eun-Su (as Choi Yeo-Na), Ha-Joon (as Shin Joon-Ho), Song Geon-Hee (as Thomas), Kang Mal-Geum (as Kim Hyun-Mi), Ko Dong-Ha (as Kim Joon-Soo), Kim Jung-Eun (as Jo Myeong-Soon), Moon Yoo-Kang (as Kim Nam-Kook), Park Hye-Jin (as Choi Mi-Ja), Ahn Dong-Yeob (as Park Beom-Soo), Lee Ki-Chan (as Park Byeong-Eun), Lee Joo-Myoung (as Jang-Mi), Lee Joo-Won (as Park Young-Ho), Jang Kyung-Su (as Detective Bok), Jang Sun-Yool (as Seo Ha-Neul), Ji Dae-Han (as Baek Il-Doo).
The Plot
The first season had a very satisfying ending with no strings attached. The story was wrapped in a way giving each character a satisfactory verdict. In the finale episode, Jun-Ho couldn’t say his last goodbye to Yeo-Na but Wook assisted them by being the middleman for both of them.
The most heart-wrenching moment is Jun-Ho who had a very tough time after finding the body, but it’s all thanks to Wook and Thomas that he now knows Yeo-Na was satisfied when she departed.
Wook finally let his past go and said his last farewell to his mother. The final moments were heart touching but depressing at the same time, particularly when the village vanished for him.
The ending certainly catches up for a few of the slower episodes of the previous ones but all the more reason, the show delivered us with a satisfying conclusion. If Missing: The Other Side 2 happens, the story will shift to a new twist and many mysteries to unfold.
