There have been about season sixth of Prison Break for many years. But every fan is keen to ask whether a sixth season is in the works or not? Unfortunately, at this point, it seems that the drama show has breathed its last with its fifth installment. So, despite igniting hopes in viewers by its initial renewal announcement, will there be no season six? Yes, sadly, it is just the case. Amid the rumors and speculations, here’s everything you need to know about a possible Prison Break season six:
Why Prison Release season 6 never happened?
Back in 2017, the former Fox CEO, Dan Walden was looking ahead to developing more episodes of the series. By December of the year, the series was underway with FOX bosses confirming that it is an initial stage for the series, and they are excited about what the future holds.
However, in 2019 January, when Disney acquired Fox, things did not look great for Prison Break. With 24 spinoffs put on hold, the newly appointed CEO of Fox, Charlie Collie said that currently;y they have no plans for reviving Prison Break or any other franchises. Though he added that if a creator has a story to tell at an appropriate time, we would listen to it because these franchises are part of Fox’s legacy, and Collie values its history and legacy to an extent that if the writers have any questions, he would always welcome them with an open door.
Moreover, Prison Break’s lead star, Wentworth Millor announced his exit from the show via an Instagram post. Miller came out in 2013 as gay, and now he wants to represent his queer community through his future roles and characters. He said he will not play straight characters anymore as their stories have been told.
His co-star, Dominic Purcell who plays Lincoln Burrows expressed support for Miller’s decision to not be a part of the series. While Purcell is holding out hopes to get back on the show if there is a story worth telling. But seems the show has stalled as of now with the official Twitter handle of the series writers’ room clarifying that season six is not on the cards now.
Here’s what it read:
Hi, Prison Breakers! I’m just dropping in to share some bummer news. Nothing is ever dead (remember when Sara was decapitated?), but for now, the elusive season 6 is not in the cards. But we love you and are so grateful for all of you
Prison Break Season six’s cast information
With a major player’s departure from the series, it is very uncertain who will be in the series cast, but we see the return of Dominic Purcell as Lincoln Burrows, Rockmond Durbar as C-Note, and Robert Knepper as T-Bag, Amaury Nolasco as Sucre, and Inbar Lavi as Sheba. Other likable returns include Sarah Wayne Callies as Sara Tancredi-Scofield and Kellerman as Paul Adelstein.
Prison Break season six’s plotline
With the series still up in the air, we cannot fully predict its future plotline. However, season five’s finale episode saw Michael getting a legal immunity from his crimes, and reuniting with his wife, Sara, and kid after seven years. But this new peaceful life will not continue for long as Micahel will have trouble returning to normal civilian life after spending a significant time in jail. At least this is what Miller said in a previous interview about his character.
But this is just a conjecture, and the plot synopsis might have twists and turns that may complicate things further. Stay tuned to know.
With a heavy heart, we bid adieu to our beloved characters with the series finale, yet there is a bit of hope that a spin-off may give a fresh twist to the Devil’s narrative. Keep checking with us for more updates on Prison Break Season six.
