I cannot believe that “My Girl” actress Anna Chlumsky has had a little girl of her own!
Anna Chlumsky, who rose to prominence as a child star in 1991’s My Girl, is now a new mom.
The 32-year-old actress literally won our hearts as the child star and romantic interest of Macaulay Cullin in the 1991 cult classic.
Chlumsky gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Penelope Joan so – on July 11 in NYC. It is the first child for her and Shaun So – her husband for five years.
“She’s a really good mix between my husband and me,” the Veep actress tells PEOPLE. “When she’s with him, you see him, and when she’s with me, you see me. She’s a perfect mix.”
“We think she has my mouth, but it’s hard to tell. Even the color of her eyes, they are different in different light. But she has a really full head of hair.”
It’s been quite a week for Chlumsky, who on Thursday also earned her first Emmy nomination for her work on Veep.
“I’m still in shock. When I got the call I wasn’t sleeping because I was breastfeeding my daughter,” she says.
“It was neat because it was me and my husband and my daughter all in the room getting the news at the same time. When [my manager] told me, it was that nervous, happy, appreciative laughter. I just laughed a lot! It feels really great to have your work noticed.”
Not surprisingly, Chlumsky is on cloud nine about all the new developments. “I’m really, really happy. I’m just smiley,” she says.
“I have this new bundle of love that’s now in my life. She has made my life even better.”
And motherhood? “I’m really surprised how real it is,” she says. “What’s really strange is how fast it happened. You prepare for so long, and all of a sudden the baby’s here … It’s seriously the best thing. Holding her is fantastic. It’s one of the more enjoyable things. It doesn’t get boring at all. I could hold her all day.”

Meet Anna Chlumsky’s daughter, Penelope Joan
This is the first child for both Chlumsky and her entrepreneur husband Shaun So, also 32.
Chlumsky, who confirmed her pregnancy in late March, had a fairly “drama free pregnancy,” she said in April.
“I just want pastries a lot, but I mean, it’s nothing weird. I’m not waking my husband up at 2:00 in the morning to go to 7/11 or anything like that,” she said in an interview.
“It’s been pretty controlled. I’m able to pretty much figure out where it belongs in my regimen, I think.”
The expectant parents remained hush-hush about their daughter’s name during Chlumsky’s pregnancy, though the former child star did reveal that they had something unique in mind.
“I’ve got my thoughts, but we’re going to meet her [first],” she said at the time. “I have a short list and then when we meet her at the hospital, we’ll see what is right. We like things to be original so you’re not confusing your kid for some other person.”
