What is the show about?
Executive-produced by actress Reese Witherspoon and country artist Kacey Musgraves, My Kind of Country is developed to discover unique country artists who do not match the conventional Nashville mold. Jimmie Allen and Mickey Guyton who serve as the judges of the show and are both Black, each participated in the popular show American Idol when they were just starting in their career but was eliminated before the voting stages and have had to step in the formless barriers that were placed between them and mainstream sensation. Orville Peck who serves as a judge is a homo South African artist, also has had his share of woes and hardships within a notably traditional and white genre as well. Together, these three judges will pick four contestants each and will help them to get closer to their dreams rather than humiliate them.
