A man who was brought before the court, attacked the Las Vegas Judge Mary Kay Holthus last week by jumping over her bench for denying his request for probation on the charges that were then pressed against him. Deobra Redden is the felon in discussion who faced additional charges of assault for the injury inflicted upon the judge and was sentenced this week. Deobra Redden was originally charged with attempted battery and was made to re- appear before Judge Mary Kay Holthus on Monday following which, he was sentenced to prison for a tenure between 19 and 48 months. During his appearance, the man was made to wear a spit mask and mitts in order to contain any unexpected attacks.
The news channel ‘8 News Now’ displayed certain clips from the court hearing which took place on Monday which showcased Judge Mary Kay Holthus stating how she was not “ changing or modifying the sentence she was in the process of imposing” before she was attacked. Reports suggest that Judge Mary Kay Holthus faced injuries from the actions of Deobra Redden with visible signs of attack. The news channel also talked about a Marshal who received several stitches on his forehead from the felon. Deobra Redden’s family members addressed the issue and conveyed to the reporters present that the man was having mental illnesses including Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder and how his alleged lack of proper mental health might have been the cause for the man to act in this manner. That being said, Deobra Redden has committed repeated felonies in the past and is now met with a new case alongside additional charges on many accounts.
The news channel also talked about Deobra Redden’s family supposedly stating that they have been talking to the man and he is supposedly back on medication and is working on himself.
