Have you heard of it? Legally Blonde 3 is making a come back! More than two decades after the last movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reese Witherspoon, who plays Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, works on the third installment with MGM and will produce the film through her media company, Hello Sunshine.

As for the scriptwriters— last year, the deadline reported that Mindy Kaling and Brooklyn Nine-Nine creator Dan Goor would be penning down the script. Kristen Smith and Karen McCullah, who wrote the script for the first movie, won’t be returning, although their names are written as writers on the Legally Blonde 3 IMBd page. Marc Platt and Adam Seigel, the original producers of the 2001 film, are all set to return to work for the upcoming film.

Legally Blonde 3 Release Date

It was supposed to be released on February 14, 2020, as announced by MGM on Twitter, but the release date was pushed back due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Variety, the release date for Legally Blonde 3 is on May 20, 2022, which was confirmed by one of the cast members in a reunion video. You don’t want to miss this out, so brace yourself and free your schedule for that day.

We’re thrilled to see Reese Witherspoon reprise her role as Elle Woods, the busy vegetarian lawyer, back on the screen once again since the last sequel. We’re also eager to discover the character development and how much Elle has evolved in the upcoming movie Legally Blonde 3.

Legally Blonde 3 Delayed Again!!

Yes, you read that right! We’re sad to inform you that the release date has been pushed back again, and currently, it’s unclear when we’ll get to see our beloved Elle Woods again but it’s highly likely that part 3 of the movie will be out sometime in 2023. The official release date is yet to be confirmed and hopefully, it doesn’t get delayed this time.

Who Are The Cast Members Of Legally Blonde 3?

Reese Witherspoon, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, said some of the original cast members would be returning, but she didn’t mention who.

“I can’t imagine anything that would be more fun. Reese played such a great character,” Wilson said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Luke Wilson, who played Elle’s Layer and love interest in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, said that he would love to return to play the role. He further added: “I have not talked to Reese about it, but yeah, I always kind of hear rumors here and there,” he said. “Never anything official about them doing another Legally Blonde, but I’d love to do another one. I mean, just that character Reese played was so funny at the time, and that has kind of become this iconic character now.”

Alongside Reese Witherspoon, we will get to see Luke Wilson, who plays her husband, Emmett. We can also expect to see Matthew Davis, her ex-boyfriend Warner, Jennifer Coolidge, who plays Paulette, also Elle’s nail technician. We all hope to see them again sharing the same screen in the next film. Fingers crossed! 

What Will Be The Plot For Legally Blonde 3?

Details of the storyline are not yet disclosed. Now that Reese Witherspoon is 45 years old, the story will mainly focus on Elle’s life after graduating from Harvard.

Deadline reported that the Legally Blonde 3 would have “an entirely new fresh spin.” Mindy also teased that fans would also get to see their favorite moments in the new movie. 

Mindy told Access Hollywood: “Bend and snap is forever,” she said. “We definitely have a lot of fan favourites from the original.” Mindy later added: “I can’t wait to see what people think of the way we’ve written Elle Woods at 40. How Elle Woods is at 40 versus when she was 21 has been really fun to imagine.”
