“Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons” is a television documentary series presented by Raphael Rower and is being produced by London-based Emporium Productions. The first season was originally launched on Channel 5 and April 5, 2016, and was hosted by Paul Connolly. The docu-series showcases life in nineteen lockups across the globe, mainly from the prisoner’s viewpoint but also incorporating the viewpoint of jail wardens and others interacting with the lockup system. Since the 2nd season, the documentary has been authorized by Netflix and hosted by journalist Rowe, who had also been detained for twelve years in jail for a crime that he was wrongly accused of.
In this show, Rowe brings out the lockup system’s truth from inmates’ viewpoints and Colombia. In each episode, the sealed system is recorded in multiple interviews: pressure due to illegal factions, unhygienic problems, and complicated logistics. Even the liking of sustenance prepared in the cafeterias.
“I decided that I was going to open the gates of prisons around the world for international audiences so they could get a real insight to what life is really like inside prisons. For prisoners, for prison staff, for families, and anybody that is involved in the prison systems around the world,” Rowe said.

Has Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons Been Renewed For Season 7?
As of now, Netflix has yet to renew the docu-series for a seventh season. Given the success of its last season, we’re highly optimistic that the program will be back for another round. Details on the next season are unclear as the producers have not revealed anything but we’ll be sure to update this second once we hear any official news about the renewal status and other important updates.

The first season was released on April 12, 2016. The second season came out on July 6, 2018. The third season was launched on December 14, 2018. The fourth season premiered on July 29, 2020. The fifth season arrived on January 9, 2021, and finally, the sixth season landed on the screen on September 28, 2022. Currently, fans are anxiously awaiting the release of the seventh season.
