Speaking to the New York Daily News in 2015, author Gillian Flynn explained: “There could be a sequel at some point if everyone is game to get the gang back together,” Flynn stated. “It could be really fun a few years from now to pick it up and see what those crazy Dunnes are up to a few years down the road and if they got on — not well I don’t think.”
But so far there has been no concrete news, so it is uncertain if a sequel will happen at this point.

Gone Girl ending explained
David Fincher directed the 2014 psychological thriller Gone Girl, based on Gillian Flynn’s novel. Ben Affleck plays writer Nick Dunne, whose wife Amy (Rosamund Pike) disappears on their fifth wedding anniversary. Nick rapidly becomes the main suspect in Amy’s disappearance, but he denies knowing anything.
Amy planned her disappearance for months, according to the police investigation. She wrote a phony diary about her lunacy and placed proof that Nick was about to kill her. Amy wanted Nick to love her again by framing him for her murder.
Nick learns that Amy is alive and has been fooling him. He approaches her, and she confesses to staged death. She announces her pregnancy to him. Nick is upset at first, but he stays with Amy for their child.
Nick and Amy end the film in a loving marriage, although Amy remains in charge. She persuaded Nick to win his love, but their relationship’s future is uncertain.
Critically and commercially successful, Gone Girl grossed over $369 million worldwide. Suspense, fascinating characters, and a dark, twisted tone made the film popular. One of the best psychological thrillers of recent years is Gone Girl.

Gone Girl 2 plot: What is the expected storyline?
Flynn teased on how the novel ends although it’s not clear if it’s about the sequel. She revealed to People: “I will fully admit that, now that the child that would’ve been born 10 years ago, once that child hits 13, 14 in real-time, I may indeed want to go back in and update and play around with what the hell would’ve happened once Amy was a mom,” Flynn tells. “Because that is the stuff of wonderful gothic nightmares, I think.”
“I would say I’m a little more sure than never-say-never. I think I would be surprised if I didn’t, to be honest. But don’t hold me to it,” she asserts of jotting down a sequel. “I do think it’d be fun to play in real time, and I would be ready by then to revisit them. I’d have enough space from Nick and Amy to go back in and get what that’s like as the true nuclear-bomb family.”
