With her performance in movies such as ‘Me Before You’ (2016) and ‘Last Christmas’ (2019), we can definitely expect an astounding deliverance to Constance’s personality.
Claire Barré and Matthew Cormack is said to join Sophie Hyde as the writers of the film.
The Inspiration
As the name of Clarke’s character and the plot line suggests, the movie is seemingly inspired from the real life incidents of Constance Lloyd’s marital life with Wilde.
Constance’s life records, in reality, makes one wonder what it must have been like for a woman to realize and live with the discoveries that she did not previously know about her husband for a majority of their marriage. Constance and Wilde’s relationship can be understood as a turbulent one indeed as history would suggest and it will be interesting to see Lloyd’s perspective of the same.
The tales of real life people are always interesting to read or watch upon as they show how even the greatest had vulnerabilities while the presumed ordinary might have been much more wiser and superior in certain aspects than one would have thought to be possible. The relationship between Constance and Oscar was something similar and it will fascinating to watch ‘An Ideal Wife’ unfold…………….when the movie is released of course!
