Actress and film producer Drew Barrymore is widely known to all who stepped into the entertainment industry as a child actor herself. However, it seems like she’s not going to let her kids step into the industry the way she did. In fact, Drew is quite adamant about her decision about when her kids can opt to kick-start their acting careers.
Here’s everything to know about Drew Barrymore’s strict guidelines about the acting career of her kids.
Drew Barrymore and her acting career
American actress and film producer Drew Barrymore isn’t an unknown in the Hollywood industry. The 49-year-old star has already achieved massive success in her life as an actress and film producer. Although, to achieve the success she holds now, she began her work in the entertainment industry quite young.
Her acting career began when she was a kid from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Yet, amid this success, there was a time in her young age when she dealt with issues like drug and alcohol-related things. The same thing grabbed a lot of media attention as well.
In fact, Drew’s autobiography, Little Girl Lost, reflects on the challenges she faced after beginning her acting career quite young. But it seems like Drew doesn’t want the same things to happen to her kids either. Drew has instead made a strict rule for her kids to enter the entertainment industry, and that’s something related to their age.
Actress Drew Barrymore doesn’t want her kids to begin acting before turning 18
Both as an actress and a producer, Drew Barrymore has plenty of films under her name. Despite getting success from hard work in the industry, her life getting into the limelight at an early age might have caused some problems for the actress that she doesn’t want her kids to face too.
Drew has thus decided at what age her kids must begin acting if they want to make a career in it. The actress and film producer doesn’t want her kids to step into the entertainment industry before they turn 18. Not to forget, Drew is a mom to two kids, namely Olive and Frankie, whom she shares with her ex-husband Will Kopelman.
About allowing her kids to try their luck in acting, Drew told PEOPLE, “My kids ask me all the time—they would love to be in film or on social media or sing or whatever.” She adds further “I always just say, ‘School plays, theater camp, everything. But being in the public eye, it’s going to be when I think you’re ready.”
About the age limit for her kids to try acting, Drew said, “As a parent, I would really love to support my kids when they’re older. What number is that? I don’t know, but it’s not 13, and it’s probably not 14.”
No doubt, at present, Drew’s kids still have time to make their debut in the film industry, as their mom is quite strict about her rules for them. Yet, she would support her kids when they’re ready for their appearance in the entertainment world.
