Here is everything about the new release of Bridgerton season 3.
Bridgerton Season 3 is officially happening
(updated 12/12/2022)
The series has been ordered for not only season 3 but for the fourth season as well. Now fans don’t have to be worried whether or not the series will have a season four.
Netflix announced the news via a Facebook post on April 13, 2021. The statement says, “Esteemed member of the Ton, it seems we have a rather special announcement. Bridgerton shall return for seasons three and four. The author shall have to purchase more ink… Yours Truly, Lady Whistledown.”
Nicola Coughlan also teased about season 3 on her official Instagram with a post that captioned: “Like Lady Whistledown I’ve been keeping quite a big secret for quite a long time… but I can finally tell you that @bridgertonnetflix Season Three is Colin and Penelope’s Story ❤️.”
Bridgerton season 3: Release Date
Bridgerton first premiered on Netflix on December 25, 2020. The first season with eight episodes was met with positive reviews. In January 2021, the series was renewed for a second season. In April, creator Chris Van Dusen took to his Twitter to reveal that the series has been officially renewed for a third and fourth season. The official release date for season 3 has not yet been revealed but it is scheduled for Summer 2023. It’s also been reported that Shonda Rhimes has started working on the scripts while production is set to begin in Summer of 2022.
Bridgerton season 3: Cast
The first season featured Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury, Lorriane Ashbourne as Mrs. Varley, Jonathan Bailey as Anthony, Ruby Barker as Marina Thompson. The other cast includes Sabrina Bartlett as Selena Rosso, Harriet Cains as Philippa Featherington, Bessie Carter as Prudence, Nicola Coughlan as Penelope, Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne, Ruth Gemmell as Violet, Florence Hunt as Hyacinth Brindegerton, Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgeton, Ben Miller as Archibald, Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton, Rege Jean Page as Simon Bassett, Golda Rosheuval as Queen Charlotte, Luke Thompson as Benedict bridgerton, Will Tilston as Gregory Bridgerton, Polly walker as Portia and Julie Andrews as Lady Whistlewood. Taking into note the book’s chronicles, the Bridgestone family is likely to remain the same. Dynevor, Bailey Coughlan have already confirmed their return in season 2. The third season is likely to be based on the story from the third book. This means we would see Luke Thompson returning Benedict Bridgerton.
Bridgerton season 3: Plot
Sources have cited that the third season would follow the third book in Julia Quinn’s season. The first season was based on the first book, and the second is likely to be based on the second book. The third book follows the story of Sophie Beckett, a woman born into privilege. However, she has no clue about her fortunes. Her father is an earl, and her stepmother treats her no less than a servant. Sounds more like a Cinderella story, right! Sophie one day manages to sneak into Lady Bridgerton’s masquerade ball, where she meets her prince charming. The prince charming turns out to be Benedict Bridgerton. She at the ball feels like royalty. Will the third season follow this another cinderella tale, or would it cook up something else? The third season is likely to surprise the fans.
Will Bridgerton season 3 be affected by the WGA and SAG strikes?
As of September 2023, pre-production, filming, and some post-production in Hollywood have been halted due to the WGA and SAG’s strike.
It’s difficult to determine at this stage whether the strikes will create a delay in Bridgerton season 3. For a while, we believed that post-production on Bridgerton season 3 could and would continue, but it’s probable that without writers and actors, season 3 of Bridgerton would not have been completed. The WGA and SAG strikes have increased public awareness of what writers and performers do, as well as how much effort is still needed to complete the final cut, including writing, editing, ADR, promotion, and other tasks.
Season 3 of Bridgerton finished filming in March 2023, and we continue to anticipate that it will be available this year. Nevertheless, it’s likely that the cast won’t be permitted to advertise the season, depending on when it’s published.
Season 4 of Bridgerton, which has already been confirmed, might also be impacted. Although we don’t know the current situation with the Bridgerton writers’ room, they won’t be working throughout the WGA strike. Concerning Bridgerton season 4 production, nothing has been announced as of yet.
Has Netflix Announced Bridgerton Season 3 Premiere Date yet?
No, Netflix has not yet revealed the premiere date for Bridgerton season 3. The new season was anticipated to premiere in 2023, however the exact date is still unknown.
With a huge program like this, the post-production process and season promotion should take at least six months from the conclusion of filming. One of the top ten most popular Netflix series ever, Bridgerton, will not be released without a major premiere, fan events, and appearances on all the major talk shows.
In May 2023, Netflix released Queen Charlotte, a spinoff of Bridgerton. Two seasons being released on Netflix at the same time is unheard of. From a commercial standpoint, there is no justification for doing it. Having said that, it will still be some time before we can see Bridgerton season 3 on Netflix. There’s also a chance that Bridgerton season 3 will be delayed until 2024.
