Entries for the awards open on 5 October 2022, and nominations will be unveiled on 22 March 2023. The BAFTA TV Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 14 May 2023 at Queen Elizabeth Hall at London’s Southbank Centre, while the BAFTA TV Craft Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 23 April 2023 at The Brewery in London.

Key Updates: What are the changes made to the rules, eligibility and categories for 2023?

The BAFTA TV Committee, in consultation with its sector peers, has made some changes to reflect the ever-evolving landscape of the TV industry. Some of the key updates for 2023 include:

– Specific interventions to address historic gender inequity in some categories
– Amplifying key craft roles across both ceremonies
– Levelling the playing field for all entrants
– Introducing a new category for Best Casting in a Comedy Programme

The full set of rules, eligibility requirements and timeline can be found on BAFTA’s Awards webpage here.

Sara Putt, Deputy Chair of BAFTA and Chair of the BAFTA Television Committee, said: “Television and the way in which audiences consume content is ever-evolving, and it’s essential we adapt alongside. As a mirror to the industry, we are in the privileged and unique position of being able to drive and influence positive change. I’m delighted that the updates to our 2023 BAFTA TV Awards announced today including specific interventions to address historic gender inequity, reflecting our commitment to widening representation, amplifying key craft roles across both ceremonies and levelling the playing field for all.”

Dates and Venues: When and where will the awards ceremonies take place?

The BAFTA TV Awards ceremony will be broadcast on BBC One, BBC One HD and BBC iPlayer. Red carpet interviews with nominees and guests will be streamed live across BAFTA and BBC’s social channels. Further details including the host for the 2023 Awards will be announced at a later date.
