The incredible German show ‘Babylon Berlin’ is created, penned and directed by Tom Tykwer along with Achim von Borries and Hendrik Handloegten, heavily inspired by the books written by Volker Kutscher. It features Volker Bruch, Liv Lisa Fries, Peter Kurth, Matthias Brandt, Leonie Benesch, Severija Janušauskaitė, Ivan Shvedoff, Hannah Herzsprung, Lars Eidinger, Benno Fürmann, Mišel Matičević, Ronald Zehrfeld, and Meret Becker.
Set in Berlin in 1929, it takes place during the Weimar Republic and revolves around a cop inspector named Gereon Rath assigned from Cologne who is on an undercover mission to break down an extortion gang, and Charlotte Ritter who aims to become a cop inspector.
The show has received positive responses from the audience and critics and now that the third season has ended, fans are clamoring for the next season. Here’s what we know about the upcoming season.
Release Date of Babylon Berlin Season 3: When Will It Premiere?
It’s been reported that the next season will also be helmed by Tom Tykwer alongside Achim von Borries, and Henk Handloegten. The good news is, the fourth season of Babylon Berlin wrapped production back in September 2021 and is currently under post-production.
The first season was released on October 13, 2017. The second season was launched on November 10, 2017. The third season premiered on January 24, 2020. It took about fourteen months to release the third season including filming and post-production.
So, it’s likely that the upcoming fourth season will follow the same timeline as the third season and we assume that new episodes will arrive sometime this year or in early 2023.

In addition to that, it was announced that Mark Ivanir has joined the cast for the upcoming season 4. It’s not known what characters he’ll be playing as it’s not revealed yet.
The Plot of Babylon Berlin Season 4: What To Be Expected?
Series co-creator Hendrik Handloegten revealed to Express that the new season would center the storyline of Volker Kurcher’s third novel of Babylon Berlin titled “Goldstein.” In the book, an American criminal named Abraham Goldstein lands in Berlin and takes control of the underworld criminal organization, and Gereon inspects him as a favor for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
However, various sources have indicated that the fourth season will also comprise materials from Kutcher’s fourth novel “The Fatherland Files” of Babylon Berlin although this has not been confirmed by the makers of the show we look forward to the detective duo in the next season taking on dangerous missions and cracking down on criminal organizations.
