Alice in Borderland Season 3 Release Date
Netflix has confirmed the third season of Alice in Borderland, which is great news following the events of the season two finale.
The Joker, an extremely powerful card, was drawn from the stack by the gamemaster just as Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) and his allies believed they were out of the game.
As previously announced, Netflix has confirmed the release of Alice in Borderland season 3, following the success of the second season, which became the most-watched title on Netflix Japan ever.
After the first season, which was released in December, fans had to wait a little more than two years for the second. That does not imply, however, that we should set the date for Christmas 2024 on our calendars.
Season two’s production was slowed down by the pandemic, which added to the two-year wait. This suggests that season three might debut on the streaming service as early as spring 2024. Do watch out for more updates!
Who will be in the cast?
Niragi (Dori Sakurada) and Aguni (Shô Aoyagi), two unexpected guests from Alice in Borderland season one, reappeared in season two, leaving us to believe they had passed away.
They survived season two despite being severely damaged—Niragi more so than the others—so we anticipate seeing them again in season three.
For Tatta, the same cannot be said. We’re very certain Yutaro Watanabe’s character won’t be returning from the grave, given that he was interred halfway through the season.
We also anticipate seeing Aya Asahina, Nijirô Murakami, and Ayaka Miyoshi’s characters, Kuina, Chishiya, and Ann, respectively, return to their respective roles as they also manage to cross the finish line.
The actress who plays Mira Kano, Riisa Naka, talked to Nextshark about her expectations for a third season, as well as a comeback for her role. She was first introduced as an executive member of “the Beach” in season one before being revealed to be the Queen of Hearts and Arisu and Usagi’s final foe in the Borderlands.
“If there were to be a season three, I wonder what would happen with the whole team that fought together so far,” she stated. “I have this feeling that Hatter’s spirit might make a reappearance because you’ve seen him mentioned numerous times throughout the episode. Thus, you might also believe that Mira could make a comeback.”
What can be the plot?
Alice in Borderland follows the story of Arisu, a young man who finds himself lost in an abandoned in Tokyo, also known as Borderland. He, alongside his best friends Chota and Karube, begin their search for civilization. The trip finds out that they are trapped in a city where they are forced to participate in risky, violent, and dangerous games. The trio pushes their limits emotionally and physically in the process of surviving. As per tourist is a storyline, Arisu is a video game-obsessed person. He is friends with Chotu and Karube. Once while loitering the streets, the trio causes an altercation, which causes them to be chased by the police. They hide to escape, but when they return, to discover the city empty. Later on, the group finds that they are stuck in a game city, and the only way to escape through it is by playing. The first season covered 31 chapters of the manga. Arisu is dealt with a heavy hand in the first season. In it, his friends sacrifice themselves to ensure Arisu has the best chance to progress. Season 2 continued by showing Arisu’s progress in the game. It covered the 33 chapters of the manga. The season’s climax came in the ten of hearts game. In it, Arisu has to predict the identity of the witch correctly. The season ended with a woman named Mira appearing and informing the audience that the game has just begun. Season 3 is likely to portray the way Arisu finds his way through the game.
What happens at the end of season 2 of Alice in Borderland?
By the time the second season is over, all of the face cards have been eliminated, and the players who are still alive have the choice of continuing the game or leaving it for good. When Arisu and the other players who opted to go back to the real world awaken in a hospital, they learn that a meteor hit Tokyo. We witnessed this with the pyrotechnics that opened the performance, but we now realise that they were actually fragments of the meteor that destroyed Tokyo.
Many people died when the meteor struck Tokyo, and those who were seriously injured were sent to the hospital. All the game players, including Arisu and Usagi, had survived the explosion but were now in the Borderlands, where life and death are almost indistinguishable. They don’t remember ever going to the Borderlands or seeing each other when they get back. When Arisu and Usagi first meet, they get a peculiar impression that they have already met, although there is no concrete evidence of this. They still choose to get to know one another, though.
In the final scene of the season, playing cards are shown flying off a table until only the Joker card is left. As tense music plays in the background, the camera focuses on the face of the Joker card. The credits are then shown.
