World on Fire season 2 release date?

The release date of the series has not been confirmed yet. Since filming began in 2021, we can expect the new season to release in mid-2022. In case it doesn’t release this year, you can expect the series to release in the first half of 2023. This lessens the chances of its renewal. The finale episodes, however, ended with an open termination, this shows that the series might continue. Even BBC One channel in its tweet mentioned “our door is always open”, we can anticipate its arrival as well.

“I want a third season of World on Fire!”, showrunner Peter Bowker declared!

At the time of this writing, the status of World on Fire Season 3 is unknown, but the showrunner Peter Bowker has indicated positive signals that do suggest a renewal. Firstly, World on Fire is a PBS staple with excellent ratings and its second season was literally the highest-rated ever!

Secondly, the World on Fire cast and crew want a third season. Recently, showrunner Peter Bowker declared, “I want a third World on Fire season. Many more tales await and I want to continue.” This shows the creative team loves the show and wants to keep telling it.

Third, World on Fire has received positive reviews for its writing, acting, and production. This critical acclaim may convince PBS to renew the show for a third season.

PBS usually renews popular shows. For instance, the network revived Downton Abbey for a seventh season, which means PBS will invest on its hits. Overall, World on Fire will likely get a third season—however, we won’t know until PBS announces it. We will update this space with all the latest information as and when it’s available—please stay connected with us until then!

What to expect from the season 2 plot of World on Fire?

(updated 25/9/2023)

The upcoming season is expected to cover the events of the Second World War. Series creator and writer Peter Bowker explains: “The second season of World on Fire has been a long wait due to a certain pandemic and this makes the beginning of filming especially exciting. It has been a real joy to pick up the story with our inspirational cast, both our established regulars and new and exciting talent who have embraced the show’s scale and ambition. How the conflict played out in North Africa is a fascinating and little explored history and we are aiming to redress that balance with stories of struggle and friendship. Our diverse cast will continue to reflect the global nature of the conflict.”

How many episodes will the World on Fire season 2 have?

The upcoming season of World on Fire is expected to have seven episodes like Season 1. The rest of the details might be revealed before the second season’s premiere.
