Inspired by the Addams Family, Netflix’s Wednesday has received immense praise and love from fans all over the world. It made its debut on the screen in November 2022 and has left fans wanting more only after its 8-episode run. The supernaturally infused mystery show has been a smash hit among audiences and was in Netflix’s top 10 English-language shows in 83 countries. The record-breaking success is enough to guarantee a season two. But disappointingly, Netlfix has not officially announced the show’s renewal. But it is just a matter of time since the streamer has delayed renewals of several hit shows in the past. That said, everything we know so far about Wednesday Season 2 from its possible air date to its casting list and everything more:
Wednesday Season 2 Anticipated date of release
It is too early to hear any confirmations for part two since season one has just dropped. If we go by Netflix’s previous renewal timeline, it is anticipated that the show will be greenlit by Q4 of 2022 or perhaps around the holiday season. Keeping that in mind, we could see new episodes of Wednesday earliest by 2024 fall.
The inaugural run of Wednesday went into production in September 2021 and wrapped up its filming in March 2022 before getting ready for screens in November 2022. Thus, fans should be in wait for this long.
Season 1 of Wednesday is available to stream on Netflix.
Wednesday Season 2 Possible plotline
The first part left a few cliffhangers at the end. With Wednesday finally embracing her positive emotions, it seems that the future episodes will probably create a different story tone for the character. Season two will explore more of Adams’ Family while weaving the unfinished plot threads of the debut season. Part one revealed that Tyler was the monster terrorizing the town of Jericho. He is manipulated by Mrs. Thornwill as part of her sinister plans to bring back Joseph Crackstone, the anti-outcast founder of the town. The final senses saw Tyler being out as it appears it has escaped captivity. Plus, we have a stalker who has been watching out over Wednesday throughout season one. The mysterious text on Wednesday’s new phone has intrigued fans as to who could it be. As of now, it is not certain who the new bad could be, or might be new villains might appear in future episodes. It depends upon where the future plot is willing to take us.
But one thing is certain the creators, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have a clear vision of what season two would be like. As the duo is already invested in creating new plotlines for characters.
Wednesday Season 2’s Probable Cast
Season two is likely to bring back Jenna Ortega as the titular character, Wednesday. After all, there is no other way that we would like season two to happen.
Aside from her, the characters who made it alive out of season one also have a fair chance of a return. That includes Emma Myers (Enid), Joy Sunday (Bianca), Percy Hynes White (Xavier), and Moosa Mostafa (Eugene Ottinger).
The series can also focus on the Addams family consisting of Wednesday’s mother Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), her father Gomez (Luis Guzmán), her brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez), and Thing (Victor Dorobantu). The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia plays an essential part in the show, thus their family dynamics could also be explored in the next batch of episodes.
Unfortunately, some characters might not have a comeback such as Principal Weems who dies in the final part. It is a sure thing that Gwendoline Christie (Weems) shall dearly be missed since her character’s death emotionally impacted the protagonist.
Tim Burton made his directional debut on the small screen. He also acts as the series showrunner. It would be exciting to see where Burton’s imagination takes the audience in the sophomore season.
