Will Netflix’s Warrior Nun return for season 3? Catch up on all the updates down below!
Warrior Nun debuted on Netflix in July 2020. It received a renewal for the second season, which aired in early November 2022. The series stars Alba Baptista, Toya Turner, and Thekla Reuten.
The plot of the show follows a young woman. Having woken up in a morgue, she uncovers a new artefact in her back. Soon, she discovers that she’s a part of some ancient order. While the plot was engaging, it didn’t quite make much of an impression. And so the question is: Will Warrior Nun season 3 happen?
Simon Barry, showrunner for Warrior Nun, spoke to ScreenRant, saying that they do have plans for future seasons saying:
“Of course, when you end a season as a writer, you always want to make sure that you’ve not written yourself into a corner. And yes, we did have a notion about what season 3 could be and how that would look. But of course, it’s up to the fans. If they show up in big numbers. Netflix will make the right decision. And so hopefully, that’s what will happen.”
Has Warrior Nun season 3 been cancelled?
Yes – Warrior Nun season three has officially been cancelled. Netflix has opted for the cancellation of the series (as per Deadline). But why did they cancel the show? Well, the reason is unknown to us. Probably it was the viewership and engagement. The series didn’t quite hit the above-bar scale as far as reviews go.
I’ve just found out that @netflix will not be renewing #WarriorNun – my sincere appreciation to all the fans who worked so hard to bring awareness to this series, and for the love you showed me, the cast and the whole production team. It was a privilege to be a part of this. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/eZIBa4tJYm

Plus, the marketing wasn’t good enough. According to the showrunner, Netflix spent $0 on promotion. When it comes to renewing TV shows, Netflix considers several factors. The cost vs viewership is the primary.
This seems to be determined by total @netflix views and full s2 completion rate, in the first 28 days. So tell every living soul you know to watch it, and watch all 8 eps within the shortest reasonable time frame. Also repeat viewing is encouraged. I have no say whatsoever.😐 https://t.co/pEoXb2EWw8

How well has Warrior Nun performed so far?
Not so well, if you consider the metrics. Let’s make an assessment – Warrior Nun debuted at rank 6 in week 1. It received 26.23 million global hours. In the second week, it grew 6% to 27.74M (via what’s on Netflix). Likewise, in week 3, the viewership dropped tremendously. Now anything above 50% goes to show that the show has cratering viewership and shall not be renewed for the next instalment.
Expected plot if the show gets a renewal
The official synopsis for the final episode was as follows:
“Ava visits the other realm and returns with a new plan to end Adriel’s unholy charade — but it will require superhuman strength and painful sacrifices.
If the storyline continues, it will get picked up from where the previous season left off. Ariel has been defeated. He was found to be controlling the Earth. But with the threat gone, another big event takes place. Plus, lingering questions about Halo and Lilith’s transformation. In the next instalment, the plot will most likely revolve around Ava confessing her love for Beatrice.
One Redditor predicts that the “Third season would be establishing the events leading to the holy war, 4th season. So this could be the last if the show doesn’t gain enough traction.”
