The Marvel franchise is one of the most anticipated since the global popularity of its heroes and movies. Fans of all ages are waiting on the new stories that the studio has in place for them, and 2023 is no different. With some of the characters removed, and some introduced, we are in for quite a treat this year. Some stories are coming to an end and others will probably give us a glimpse of the new Thanos-like threat that the Avengers will face in Phase 5. The waiting seems too long, and here is what they have prepared for us in 2023!
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
One of the smallest heroes in Marvel, in size, not importance, is coming to the big screen this year. He will try to beat the odds against a new foe. If you would like to beat some odds, try playersbest. Paul Rudd’s performance of the hero is starting to get some space as some heroes are out of the picture. He will visit the infamous Quantum Realm with his whole family and face the dangers it presents. There he will meet one of the most known supervillains in the MCU – Kang the Conqueror! It seems that exactly this villain will be the main antagonist in the next hero’s installment since the future project title will be Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
The appearance of this amazingly funny team of heroes in Thor: Love and Thunder were disappointing to fans. The end of the last Avengers movie hinted that the team-up between them and Thor will be a huge story. Instead, they only appeared for a couple of minutes before exiting the movie and leaving him to battle Gorr the God Butcher alone. But the fans of this lovable bunch shouldn’t get excited about the next movie so quickly. According to many rumors and various sources, this will be the last ride for them. Even the director, James Gunn stated that “this is the last time people will see this team of Guardians”. At the end of Vol. 2, the ominous introduction of Adam Warlock is a representation of the team’s destruction.
This one is something like the Marvel version of Freaky Friday, by the looks of it. The announcement of the movie stated that it will include the trio of Carrol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau, which will switch powers somehow. It sounds like a teen flick but we are certain that it will have a more serious note. What caused the transition of their powers and what will emerge as the threat to the heroes in this movie is what we want to see and a job for the director Nia Da Costa.
Not the movie, but a Marvel Comics series will bring us back Nick Fury, portrayed by the legend Samuel L Jackson. A couple of the end-credit scenes showed us Skrulls and Fury, and this new show will present us with the plans the shape-shifting aliens have. Other characters that are back on screen are Maria Hill and War Machine, while there are announcements of debuts in the MCU for Mother of Dragons – Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman. This will be the first of many shows that will introduce the upcoming events of Marvel’s Phase 5.
Of course, besides all that we have already covered, there is more. The animated season two of What if…, animated Spider-Man by Miles Morales, and the second season of mischievous Thor’s brother Loki. Echo, Kraven the Hunter, Ironheart, and Agatha, all of them are announced for 2023. Some of these characters are supporting, but also have amazing stories for us. Some of them intertwine with more important characters for the fans. And some will fill us in more with the main story of Phase 5, remember that the first appearance of Kang the Conqueror was in the Loki series. We hope you have prepared your popcorn because Marvel is back and you have a lot of movies and shows to watch.
