Tiger King is an American docu-series based on a true crime streaming TV series. It follows the life of Joe Exotic who previously served as a zookeeper and a convicted felon. 

The first season was launched on Netflix on March 20, 2020. Whereas, in September 2021, a second season was commissioned by Netflix due to the show’s first season’s massive popularity. The second season was launched on November 17, 2021. The third season of Tiger King was confirmed on December 3, 2021, titled “Tiger King: The Doc Antle Story” which premiered on December 10, 2021, just a week after the announcement. 

The series concentrates on the little but enormously interconnected community of Big Cat conservationists Carole Baskin, the possessor of Big Cat Rescue, and Joe Exotic as the collector, whom Carole indicted of exploiting and harming wild animals.

Directed by Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin. The series stars Joe Exotic, Carole Baskin, Bhagavan Antle, John Finlay, Rick Kirkham, John Reinke, Kelci “Saff” Saffery, Jeff Lowe, Erik Cowie, Howard Baskin, Travis Maldonado, Dillon Passage, and Tim Stark.

When the first season was released, it obtained positive reviews from the audience and critics alike. As per Neilsen, it was reported that about 34 million viewers tuned in to watch in just about a week of its launch, making it one of the most successful launches in the history of the giant streamer. Though the first season was a huge success, it also received heavy criticism from animal rights activists and conservation groups for its poorly written script and inaccurate information mainly associated with private breeding and issues regarding wildlife conservation.

Despite the show’s popularity yet heavy criticism, people absolutely love this show. I mean who doesn’t love to watch all the madness and drama right? And though it hasn’t been a week since the third season was released, people are already curious to know if the show will return with a new season. Let’s find out below:

Tiger King Season 4: Is it renewed?

As of now, Netflix is still yet to renew or cancel the show. But nothing is predictable as the third season was renewed and released just one week after the official confirmation and at this point, nothing is known or can be said. It all depends on Netflix so let’s leave it at that and wait for further announcements. 

Tiger King Season 4 release date: When is it?

The official release date for Tiger King season 4 has not been confirmed. The series directors Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin revealed that it took almost two years to film the third season and at this point, expecting the fourth season release date this soon is a far cry. 

“Most of it was shot during the height of the pandemic,” said Chaiklin about the second season. “And filming in a way that was safe for both our crews and subjects proved to be quite a challenge at times.”

“The pandemic hit the US in mid-March and the [original Tiger King] show aired March 20, and I was back out on the road in April,” added Goode. “It was complicated, but we didn’t stop and we filmed for 20 months, with over 265 on-set or remote shoot days… in states that didn’t recognise the pandemic, no less.”

Netflix has the full authority to greenlit or axe the series fourth outing. However, if a fourth season happens, fans can expect to see the new episodes by the end of 2022 or early 2023. 

The Cast of Tiger King Season 4: Who’s in it?

If Tiger King season 4 is greenlit, Joe Exotic who appeared in all three seasons and also the major cast will return in the possible upcoming fourth season. However, it is not known if the other cast is willing to return and appear in front of the lights. 

There’s a slight chance to see Jeff Lowe and Allen Glover in the fourth season. As for Carole Baskin, she recently disclosed to RadioTimes.com that she’d no longer return after the first season which means fans will not get to see her on the screens even if the show proceeds with more seasons.

“They took so many things out of context and allowed people who know nothing about my history or about the relationship that I had with my former husband Don Lewis, just a bunch of animal abusers out there saying things about me that they said for years but nobody ever paid them any attention,” Baskin said.

The Plot of Tiger King Season 4: What will happen?

Plot details are scarce and it’s hard to predict what the plot would be without any sort of information either from the show makers or from the cast members. The best is to wait for more updates regarding the upcoming season.
