‘Roswell, New Mexico’ won’t be coming on Netflix for season 5: Here’s why
The fifth season of Netflix’s Roswell, New Mexico won’t be airing due to the network’s cancellation.
On September 5, Roswell, New Mexico’s fourth season, ended and was added to Netflix; however, the show’s fifth and final season won’t be available there.
Similar to In The Dark, the series, a component of CW’s production agreement with Netflix, is solely streamable in the United States and has not yet been distributed abroad.
Since September 2022, the fourth and last season has been accessible on Netflix US. There are 52 episodes total in the series up to the fourth season.
Chris Hollier, the showrunner, disclosed to Variety that they were hoping to secure another season from the network to wrap up the plot correctly.
“I’m very fortunate for the time we’ve had,” Chris Hollier said, “but you always feel like we have one more bullet in the chamber.”
In response to a question regarding the ambiguous conclusion, Hollier stated, “We left it open with a hopeful feeling that lets people’s imaginations fill in what happened next when he returned.”
After the current owners (Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery) transferred the ownership to Nextar, which has drastically changed the network’s programming, the CW cancelled or renewed a number of shows, including Rosewell.
Roswell, Mexico Season 5 Plot
There’s no plot for season 5 of Roswell, Mexico as it was canceled. But the fourth season gave the viewers a satisfying closure.
In an interview with CBR, showrunner Chris Hollier was asked about the cancellation of the show and how difficult a pill was to gulp down. He said, “It was a hard pill to swallow just because we had more story to tell, and I love working with those people, all the ones you see on screen and off. It’s a great bunch of people. Also, the network gave us a heads-up, so we were able to honor where we were going and make sure that the fans felt satisfied and our actors got some closure, as well.”
Hollier was also asked if he was happy with the ending of the fourth and last season, he explained, “I always want more, but if we had to stop here, I think this would be a really good place to stop. It was important to us. It was important to the network, as well. Us, as a team, figured out, “OK, it’s got to be this. How are we going to do it?”. But it was good to see that the problems were being addressed and the show wrapped up pretty neatly.
