Are we getting yet another Romantic Getaway with our comedy king and queen? Let’s find out!
Airing on Sky Comedy and NOW, Romantic Getaway is a high-octane ‘heist romcom’ series. It features Romesh Ranganathan and Katherine Ryan as an awfully underprepared criminal couple.
Offscreen, Romesh and Katherine have been pretty good friends for over a decade, but this is the first time that they are doing a show together. They played the roles of Alison and Deacon who are desperate to have a kid but do not have enough savings as they endured innumerable unsuccessful IVF attempts.
The couple makes a crazy decision to steal – yes, to steal – and that too, from their boss Alfie (Johnny Vegas). But what happens when you mess with a boss who’s got high-profile criminal contacts? You fall into the deep black abyss from where there’s no way out! Will Romesh and Katherine figure a way out? The second season will explore just about that.
Here’s everything you need to know about the second season of the Sky comedy series Romantic Getaway.
Has Romantic Getaway been renewed for season 2?
Yes. Romantic Getaway has already been renewed for season 2.
“I feel like we should just start saying that there is a series 2 and then it becomes harder for the channel to not commission another series,” joked Katherine.
Romesh added: “Yeah, I’m really excited about series 2. It’s up to Sky if they want to make us unexcited.”
Romantic Getaway season 2 expected plot
Romantic Getaway follows Alison (Katherine Ryan) and Deacon (Romesh Ranganathan), a childless couple who have been through countless IVF attempts and can no longer afford another. Desperate they defraud their dodgy boss Alfie (Johnny Vegas) out of £500k. But now, not only do they have to contend with the IVF itself, but they also have to work out how not to get caught. And this proves to be a challenge that plunges them deep into the criminal underworld of Reading.

Is “Romantic Getaway” worth watching?
Abso-effing-lutely yes. It’s a perfect binge watch.
Talking about collaborating with Katherine Ryan for the first time, Romesh told BT TV: “Katherine and I are BFFs. We’re really good friends. Our comedy careers have run in parallel, but over and above that we’re really good friends. I always really wanted to work with Katherine, but we didn’t know what it was.
“Katherine just reminded me of this pilot we did a long while ago for a topical late-night show, but when we came up with the idea for this series, I really wanted it to be Katherine. She’s a really good mate and this was a good excuse to spend two months hanging out with each other.”
How many episodes will there be in season 2 of Romantic Getaway?
Romantic Getaway season 2 may have a total of 6 episodes – based on the pattern of release of season 1. However, there hasn’t been an official update yet.
Romesh Ranganathan will play as Deacon in Romantic Getaways
Deacon, played by Romesh, is a thief who will do anything to have the child he and Alison want.
They encounter a dilemma, and it turns out that Alison is far more adept at handling it than Deacon is, according to Romesh. “Deacon struggles under pressure, but Alison is incredibly calm, and their circumstance only highlights that. Alison is cool, like Katherine herself, while Deacon is kind of bumbling. Katherine would never wear any of the outfits that Alison wears.
Comedian Romesh co-hosts The Weakest Link and A League of Their Own. He hosts programs including Judge Romesh, The Ranganation, Rob & Romesh vs., The Misadventures and Misinvestigations of Romesh Ranganathan. Along with King Gary, The Reluctant Landlord, Cinderella, and Avoidance, he also starred in them.
