The reality show captures the life of Julia Haart who fled away at the age of 43 from the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community. Now at 50, she’s a top-notch fashion designer and a CEO of an elite group who tries to balance her professional and personal life. The previous season had 9 episodes in total with each episode varying 35 to 44 minutes long.
Although the first season proved to be a success there were criticisms about the reality show and how the Jewish community and Orthodox Judaism is being portrayed as it can be quite misleading to some viewers. An article in the Five Towns Jewish Times written by Rabbi Yair said that the show is “spewing a vicious form of hatred designed to cast observant Jewry in a hideously negative light.”

My Unorthodox Life is an 2021 American TV miniseries that debuted on Netflix on July 14, 2021. The storyline of the series revolves around the journey of a CEO of modelling Agency named Julia Haart, the CEO who is a ultra-Orthodox Jew, as Haart and her family acculturate to their new non-religious lifestyle in Manhattan.
It stars Julia Haart, Silvio Scaglia, Batsheva Haart, Shlomo Hendler, Aron Hendler, Robert Brotherton, and Michele Palma as the main character of the storyline. The series is produced by 3BMG and Jeff Jenkins Productions in association with Jeff Jenkins, Ross Weintraub, Reinout Oerlemans, and Julia Haart as the executive producers.

My Unorthodox Life season 2 has been confirmed to be happening. The show’s high ratings and viewership earned the series a second season. Julia Haart confirmed the good news on her Instagram page at the Ellen’s show. Check the post below:
In an exclusive TV talk with Julia she said, “All I can say is if you want a season two, and we’ve got hundreds of thousands of people commenting saying they want one, then tag Netflix!” she advised. “We’ll find out in a few weeks!”
Julia continued, “We’ve put in so much of our lives and who we are, and we’re just getting started. This is the beginning of the mission. So yes, we would love to continue and share our lives with the world.”

Netflix is yet to provide an official release for season 2 of My Unorthodox Life. However, it is been confirmed that the new season is scheduled to be out in July 2022. Further announcements await!

Plot: What is it going to be about?
My Unorthodox Life centres on many things but the most important part is, it focuses on one woman and not the community. It’s more about a woman who suffers from painful past experiences and decides to break free from the chains and find a place in America as a successful fashion designer. The purpose of this reality show is to portray what it’s like for someone to suffer from mental illness while at the same time maintaining normalcy.
Julia’s story is about “defiance, strength and freedom.” She said, “The show is not about my past, it’s about my present.”
She resumed: “The purpose of everything I do is to help build an army of women to become financially independent. Because to me, that’s not having to ask permission — being able to live on your own and support yourself. That’s freedom. And that’s the goal.”
For the upcoming season, we can expect to see Julia and her family, especially her children exploring new developments in their lives.
