Three years after the premiere of the first film, ‘Greenland’ is set to return to the screens with a sequel titled ‘Greenland: Migration’ which will take place after the events of the first film. With positive reviews from critics, ‘Greenland’ received a 78% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. ‘Greenland’ focuses on John Garrity, his estranged wife and young son who seeks shelter against an impending comic set to strike the surface of Earth. The apocalyptic film starred Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin and Roger Dale Floyd in lead roles.
The upcoming sequel picks up exactly from where the first film left off with John Garrity, his family and other survivors exists the shelter to a now barren world. ‘Greenland: Migration’ will focus on the journey that the Garritys undertake through Europe that has essentially turned into a wasteland, in order to find a new home. Producers John Zois, Jonathan Fuhrman and Scott LaStaiti will be joining the crew for the film. Though there has been no official news regarding the cast and crew for the upcoming film, ‘Greenland: Migration’ will potentially commence its production soon.
The Reprisals
Ric Roman Waugh will be reprising his role as the director for the upcoming film. Ric Roman Waugh is popular for his films, ‘Kandahar’ and ‘Angel Has Fallen’, both of which star Gerard Butler, besides ‘Snitch’, ‘Total Recall’, ‘Days of Thunder’ and ‘Felon’. Chris Sparling will be writing the screenplay for the apocalyptic film, resuming his role in the first movie. Chris Sparling is another filmmaker known for his movies, ‘Mercy’, ‘The Sea of Trees’ and ‘Down a Dark Hall’. Basil Iwanyk (founder of Thunder Road Films), Brendon Boyea (executive producer of Thunder Road Films), Alan Siegel and Sebastien Raybaud (CEO of Anton Corp), the creators of the first film will be co producing ‘Greenland: Migration’. Some of the films produced by Alan Siegel include ‘Olympus Has Fallen’, ‘Den of Thieves’ and ‘Machine Gun Preacher’. He was also the co producer of Ric Roman Waugh’s ‘Angel Has Fallen’. Thunder Road Films has produced a number of hit films including the ‘John Wick’ film series, Ric Roman Waugh’s ‘Kandahar’ and ‘Gods of Egypt’ (which starred Gerard Butler).
The cast list for the upcoming sequel is yet to be announced but viewers can expect Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin to reprise their roles. Gerard Butler is an actor/ producer and a fan favorite who is known for several of his iconic roles in movies, ‘300’, ‘Angel Has Fallen’, ‘P.S. I Love You’, ‘The Ugly Truth’ and many more. Morena Baccarin is another established actress whose popular works include Marvel’s ‘Deadpool’ film series, ‘Gotham’ and ‘The Mentalist’.
The first film was praised for its visuals and the actors’ performances and undoubtedly the upcoming sequel will be no different.
