In a statement, the president of Originals at Hulu and ABC Ent., Craig Erwich said:
“When presented with the opportunity to bring fans and viewers new episodes of Futurama, we couldn’t wait to dive in. This iconic series helped blaze the trail for the success of adult animation since its initial launch, and we look forward to Matt & David continuing to pave the way and further establishing Hulu as the premiere destination for fans of the genre.”
Conceived by Matt Groening, Futurama is an American animated sci-fi comedy-drama series for FOX. After airing from 1999 to 2003 on the FOX network, the series was resurrected by Comedy Central in 2008 and went on in 2013 until Hulu revived the series in February 2022.
The animated series chronicles the adventures of the expert idler Philip J. Fry, whose frozen body was preserved for about a thousand years and resurrected on December 31, 2999. Fry seeks a job at an interstellar delivery business, working alongside Leela and robot Bender. The series features the voices of Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, David Herman, and Frank Welker.
Futurama Season 8 Release Date
It’s been confirmed that the eighth season of Futurama is scheduled to arrive in the Summer of 2023 on the streaming service Hulu although an official air date is yet to be announced.
The streaming platform revived the animated series and was initially ordered on February 9, 2022, with a total of 20 episodes. This means that the new season is set to release roughly a year and a half after the confirmation.

“The series follows Fry, a New York City pizza delivery boy, who accidentally freezes himself and gets defrosted in the year 3000,” explains the series’ synopsis. “In this astonishing -New York, he befriends hard-drinking robot Bender, and falls in love with cyclops Leela. The trio find work at the Planet Express Delivery Company, founded by Fry’s doddering descendant, Professor Hubert Farnsworth. Together with accountant Hermes Conrad, assistant Amy Wong, and alien lobster Dr. Zoidberg, they embark on thrilling adventures that take them to every corner of the universe, and plenty of other places.”
