The third season of the popular anime series “Blue Exorcist” has been cancelled.
Rumors about a possible release date for the new season have been circulating since 2018. In January 2020, an official statement from Aniplex revealed that they had begun production on the series. This was further confirmed by voice actor Nobuhiko Okamoto who stated that he had recorded dialogue for the show.
Additionally, in June 2020, a fan account on Twitter posted images from a supposed promotional poster for the upcoming season. The poster featured artwork of main characters Rin and Yukio Okumura with the caption “2021”.
Fans of “Blue Exorcist” were eagerly awaiting any news of a potential release date for the new season. But now that the series has been cancelled, there won’t be a release date.
What to expect from the storyline?
If the series gets a renewal, the third season of Blue Exorcist is expected to pick up from where the second season left off. Rin and his friends will continue their journey to become true Exorcists, while facing a new threat in the form of the Impure King. The group may also encounter some old enemies, such as Mephisto Pheles and Saburota Todo.
It has been teased that the story will focus on Rin’s inner struggle with his identity as an orphaned son of Satan, and how he deals with his newfound powers. He will have to master his abilities in order to protect those around him from danger. It is likely that we will also see more insight into the mysterious True Cross Academy, which trains Exorcists, and its many secrets.
We can expect plenty of action-packed fights against demons, as well as emotional moments between Rin and his friends. With any luck, the third season should provide a satisfying resolution for fans who have been waiting for years for a continuation of this beloved anime series.
