Beforeigners is a television drama series. It was created by Anne Bjørnstad and Eilif Skodvin. The show was produced by Rubicon TV AS. It stars Nicolai Cleve Broch, Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir, Krista Kosonen and Stig R. Amdam. Beforeigners first aired on HBO Max on February 18, 2020. As of now, there have been two seasons of the series. 

Has Beforeigners Season 3 been renewed or canceled?

HBO Max hasn’t renewed the series for season 3 yet. However, going by the reviews and ratings of the previous seasons, we’re hoping that season 3 will receive the greenlight. Whatever the scenario’s like, we’ll keep you guys updated. Stay tuned!

At the time of this writing, neither the stars nor the producers have confirmed the renewal of Beforeigners Season 3. However, there have been several updates in recent months. 

In June 2023, showrunner Eilif Skodvin told Nordic Noir magazine Scandi Crime that he has “some ideas” for a third season of Beforeigners, but is waiting for HBO Max to renew.

Lars Haaland actor Nicolai Cleve Broch said to Collider in July 2023, “I am open to a third season.” He further added, “excited to see what the writers come up with.” However, as of yet, there hasn’t been an announcement regarding the third season.

What happened at the end of Beforeigners season 2?

Beforeigners Season 2 begins two years after Season 1 and centers on the murder of young Beforeigner Sarah Murphy. Sarah is found dead in a subway tunnel, and authorities suspect Jack the Ripper. Police detective Lars Haaland (Nicolai Cleve Broch) is partnered with beforeigner warrior shield-maiden Alfhildr Enginnsdóttir (Krista Kosonen).

Lars and Alfhildr must find the serial killer and stop the attackers. Along the way, they discover a plot to topple the Norwegian government. Beforeigners who feel they run Norway are leading the scheme. Before time runs out, Lars and Alfhildr must stop the plot.

Season 2 highlights the characters’ personal lives in addition to the main plot. Lars is grieving his wife, while Alfhildr is suffering from her prior trauma. It addresses immigration, racism, and identity in a well-written and performed piece. The series Beforeigners is a must-watch for crime drama, science fiction, and historical fiction fans!

Beforeigners season 3 release date? 

The show hasn’t been renewed yet. Hence, there’s no release date. However, this does not mean the series has been canceled. The show may be on a break and the next season has not been announced or scheduled yet. Perhaps we can expect it by next year, who knows? HBO Nordic’s first original series from Norway, Beforeigners is about two persons who mysteriously appear in Oslo. They are the first of many from the past to seek refuge in the present time. Seven years later the community was transformed. So far, there have been no updates regarding Beforeigners season 3 plot. The show hasn’t been renewed for the third season yet. And there have been no potential updates otherwise. 

Who’s going to be in the Beforeigners season 3 cast?

If season 3 happens, the previous star cast will definitely return. Like c’mon, the show won’t make much sense without the previous cast members. That said, we’re expecting all the characters to return. If any changes occur, the makers will release a notice. Here’s who may be included:

• Ann Akin, Paul Kaye, Billy Postlethwaite, Jade Anouka, and Philip Rosch will also join the cast.

Beforeigners is rated TV-14. This means it contains some material that many parents would find unsuitable for children under 14 years of age. Parents are strongly urged to exercise greater care in monitoring this program. They are cautioned against letting children under the age of 14 watch unattended.

Will Beforeigners season 4 return in 2023?

As of April 2023, information has been sparse about the series returning with the third season. However, as per a user on Reddit, it looks like HBO has removed all Nordic production. But this has not been confirmed yet. Moreover, season three of Beforeigners has not been renewed or canceled yet. It is also speculated that Showtime could order the next season but again information has been tight. Given the popularity of the series, HBO could renew the series for a fourth season but a 2023 release is unlikely. Let’s wait it out for further updates.
